Mid Level Business Intelligence Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level business intelligence engineer job?
Position yourself by leading with concrete ownership: dashboards you built from scratch, pipelines you maintained independently, or business decisions your analysis directly influenced. Highlight proficiency in SQL, a BI platform like Tableau or Power BI, and at least one data warehouse environment. Tailoring your resume to show scope of impact rather than task completion is what moves mid level applications to the top of the stack.
Which companies hire mid level business intelligence engineers?
Companies hiring mid level business intelligence engineers right now include Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and FirstService Residential, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Yes, remote and hybrid options are common at this level. About 46% of mid level business intelligence engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how data-focused roles translate well to distributed team structures. Filtering by work setting when you search lets you zero in on openings that match your preferences.
How do I move up to a mid level business intelligence engineer role?
The path from entry level to mid level centers on depth and ownership. Early career, you build fluency in SQL, ETL processes, and a core BI tool. Over time, you take on full project ownership, move from executing tasks to shaping analytical frameworks, and demonstrate measurable business impact. Engineers who document results, contribute to data modeling decisions, and mentor peers consistently make that transition fastest.
