Senior Level Business Systems Analyst Jobs

INTRODUCTION

We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with a strong background in data engineering projects. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and data technical teams, ensuring that data-driven solutions meet business requirements efficiently and accurately.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering Analysis:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document data-related requirements
• Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications for data engineering teams
• Define data use cases, KPIs, and business rules

Data Engineering Project Support:

• Work closely with Data Engineers on ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and data warehousing solutions
• Understand and document data flows, data mappings, and source-to-target transformations
• Support development teams in implementing scalable and optimized data architectures

Stakeholder Management:

• Act as a liaison between business users, data engineers, and IT teams
• Facilitate workshops, meetings, and requirement walkthroughs
• Ensure alignment between business expectations and delivered solutions

Documentation Data Governance:

• Create and maintain:
• Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
• Functional Specification Documents (FSDs)
• Data dictionaries and metadata documentation
• Ensure compliance with data governance, data quality, and security standards

Testing Validation:

• Define test scenarios, test cases, and acceptance criteria
• Participate in UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and validate output against business requirements
• Support defect resolution and data validation efforts

Reporting Insights:

• Collaborate with BI teams to deliver dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability for reporting

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills Experience:

Core Skills:

• Strong understanding of Business Analysis methodologies
• Experience in Data Engineering/Data Warehousing projects
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue)

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation
• Understanding of data modeling concepts (Star Schema, Snowflake)
• Familiarity with Big Data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) is a plus
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)

Data Skills:

• Data mapping, lineage, and transformation logic
• Strong grasp of data quality frameworks and data validation
• Experience with data lakes and data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)

Tools:

• JIRA, Azure DevOps for tracking
• Visio, Lucidchart for data flow diagrams
• Excel, Power BI, Tableau for analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 8 years of experience as a BSA or Business Analyst with exposure to data engineering projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Understanding of API integrations and data services
• Exposure to data governance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, data privacy regulations)

COMPENSATION

• The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $37.56/hour - $58.69/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
