Job Overview
As a Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA), you’ll provide hands-on support that helps patients feel safe, respected, and cared for. You’ll assist with daily activities, monitor and report changes in condition, and keep care records accurate while working closely with nurses and other care team members. Your impact: By noticing and promptly sharing changes in patients’ needs, you help the care team respond and support better day-to-day care.
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, meals, mobility, and other activities of daily living.
- Measure and document vital signs; provide catheter care and other assigned patient care within your training and scope.
- Support safe transfers and repositioning using appropriate patient transfer methods, manual handling, and equipment such as a Hoyer lift.
- Maintain a clean care environment, follow aseptic technique and infection prevention practices, and protect patient confidentiality under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Document care in medical records and electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) systems; communicate observations clearly to the care team.
Skills
- Patient care, caregiving, caregiver communication, patient service, medical documentation, medical terminology, and basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Safe lifting practices and ability to perform essential physical tasks, including heavy lifting, as required by the role.
- Basic life support (BLS) or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), phlebotomy, and medication administration skills are useful when required or authorized.
- Relevant experience may include hospital, inpatient, outpatient, clinic, medical office, acute, critical care, intensive care unit (ICU), emergency medicine, urgent care, medical-surgical, pediatrics, pediatric ICU (PICU), operating room (OR), trauma center, or teaching hospital settings.
- Experience in senior, geriatric, long-term, post-acute, sub-acute, nursing home, assisted living, hospice, memory, Alzheimer’s, dementia, home, or community care—or supporting people with disabilities—is valuable. Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or other EMR/EHR systems is preferred.
Pay: $85,700.00 - $95,800.00 per year
