Duties

• Assist students with daily activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and classroom routines, ensuring safety and dignity at all times.
• Support classroom teachers by implementing lesson plans tailored to individual student IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) and developmental goals.
• Use effective communication skills, including American Sign Language when appropriate, to facilitate understanding and participation for students with communication challenges.
• Help manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and behavior management strategies aligned with curriculum goals.
• Engage students in literacy, math, early childhood education, and Montessori-based activities to promote cognitive development.
• Collaborate with educators and specialists to develop and adapt curriculum that meets the unique needs of each student.
• Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, behavior incidents, and care routines to support ongoing educational planning.

Skills

• Experience working with children in preschool or early childhood settings, including private schools or Montessori environments
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom management techniques for diverse learners
• Proficiency in special education practices, including working with students with autism, disabilities, or those requiring speech-language support such as American Sign Language
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, and other team members
• Ability to implement lesson planning strategies focused on literacy education, math skills, and overall curriculum development.
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques tailored for children with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder
• Compassionate approach to toddler care and preschool activities that foster independence and social-emotional growth
