Center Director Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a center director in Texas?
Becoming a center director in Texas typically requires completing the Texas Director credential through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, which sets the licensing standard for childcare and early childhood centers. For community health or workforce centers, a relevant bachelor's degree combined with program management experience is the standard path. Many Texas employers also look for candidates who have completed the Texas Rising Star quality recognition process or hold a credential from the Texas Workforce Commission.
Which companies hire center directors in Texas?
Employers hiring center directors in Texas right now include UT Southwestern Medical Center, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Integrated Power Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large nonprofit sector, extensive public school districts, and major health systems keep demand for experienced center directors consistently high across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most center director jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin have the most center director openings in Texas right now. Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth lead because of their scale, diverse nonprofit ecosystems, and concentration of large health and education employers, while San Antonio's strong military family services network and growing community health infrastructure drive consistent demand in that market.
Are there remote center director jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Center director roles are fundamentally on-site positions that require daily oversight of staff, facilities, and program participants, so most openings require a physical presence. About 16% of center director openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be for regional or multi-site oversight roles where coordination and reporting are the primary duties rather than direct facility management.
How can I get hired as a center director in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a lead teacher, assistant director, or program coordinator role at a large Texas childcare or community organization and building toward the directorship from there. Employers like the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, Buckner International, and Texas-based Head Start grantees regularly hire associate-level program staff and promote from within. Completing the Texas Director credential early, even before you hold the title, signals readiness and gives you a concrete edge in the hiring process.
Where can I find and apply to center director jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to center director jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your background, location, and sector, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
