Education Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a education in Texas?
To work as an educator in Texas, you must hold a valid certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency. The standard path requires completing an approved educator preparation program, whether university-based or an alternative certification program, and passing the required Texas Examinations of Educator Standards tests for your subject area and grade level. Once coursework and exams are complete, you apply for certification directly through the Texas Education Agency.
Which companies hire educations in Texas?
Employers hiring educations in Texas right now include IDEA Public Schools, Spring Independent School District, and Texas A&M University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas is home to some of the largest public school districts in the nation, alongside a growing network of charter networks and community college systems that hire across a wide range of instructional and administrative roles.
Which Texas cities have the most education jobs?
Houston, Austin, and San Antonio have the most education openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas lead because their massive independent school districts, community college systems, and private universities generate consistent volume, while Austin's growth has created sustained hiring pressure across both established districts and newer charter and higher education institutions.
Are there remote education jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're limited. Most education roles in Texas are classroom- or campus-based and require in-person presence by nature. About 5% of education openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the best-fit remote positions typically in instructional design, curriculum development, online teaching, and education administration or consulting roles.
How can I get hired as a education in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an alternative certification program, which Texas allows through providers approved by the Texas Education Agency, letting candidates earn a probationary certificate while teaching under a mentored placement. Large districts such as Houston ISD and Dallas ISD run their own residency and grow-your-own pipelines for candidates without full classroom experience. Starting as a paraprofessional, instructional aide, or substitute teacher within a district also builds the classroom record that principals look for in first-year hires.
Where can I find and apply to education jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to education jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your certification area, grade level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
