Education Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a education in Colorado?
To work as a licensed educator in Colorado, you must earn a bachelor's degree, complete an approved teacher preparation program, and obtain licensure through the Colorado Department of Education. Requirements include passing the Colorado PLACE or Praxis content exams for your endorsement area and a fingerprint-based background check. Initial licenses are valid for three years, after which you apply for a professional license by demonstrating satisfactory evaluations and continuing professional development.
Which companies hire educations in Colorado?
Employers hiring educations in Colorado right now include Denver Public Schools, Poudre School District, and Jeffco Public Schools, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's large suburban school districts, charter management organizations, and research universities consistently post the highest volume of openings across the state.
Which Colorado cities have the most education jobs?
Denver, Fort Collins, and Colorado have the most education openings in Colorado. Denver drives the highest volume because of its large urban district and concentration of charter networks, while Colorado Springs benefits from its size as the state's second-largest city, and Boulder's market is anchored by the University of Colorado and a cluster of competitive charter and independent schools.
Are there remote education jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. Most teaching and student-facing education roles are inherently on-site, which limits remote availability compared to other fields. About 25% of education openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to be in curriculum development, instructional design, education technology, or district-level administrative and coaching roles rather than classroom instruction.
How can I get hired as a education in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a Colorado-approved teacher residency program, several of which are offered through Denver Public Schools and Jefferson County Public Schools in partnership with local universities. Paraprofessional and instructional aide positions at Colorado school districts are common lateral moves that provide classroom experience while you complete licensure requirements. Holding a completed endorsement area exam score and a substitute teaching authorization from the Colorado Department of Education gives candidates a measurable edge in competitive hiring pools.
Where can I find and apply to education jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to education jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from school districts, universities, charter networks, and education organizations across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your endorsement area, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to each position.
