This position is located on campus in Lynchburg, VA. The School of Education Licensure Advisor will work closely with out-of-state online education students to ensure they are meeting specific licensure requirements for both Virginia and their current state of residence. The Licensure Advisor will handle program-specific licensure questions via phone and email to simplify the licensure processes for these students and create targeted resources to keep students informed of licensure requirements and changes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the point of contact for out-of-state online students who have licensure-specific questions.
- Answer student emails and phone calls regarding state-specific licensure requirements.
- Provide accurate, targeted advising regarding teacher education field experiences, licensure exams, and other teacher licensure and accreditation components.
- Provide workshops and information sessions regarding licensure processes for current and prospective students.
- Serve as a liaison with the Liberty University Online Teams regarding licensure questions and components.
- Remain up-to-date with the licensure requirements and compliances for all 50 states.
- Monitor updates in Virginia’s licensure laws and promptly communicate changes to students and faculty.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years of experience
- Strong organizational skills
Preferred:
- Master’s degree
- Extensive knowledge of licensure requirements
- Proven problem-solving and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, Canvas, and the internet

- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
- May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
- Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
