Curriculum Coordinator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a curriculum coordinator in Texas?
Most curriculum coordinator roles in Texas require at least a bachelor's degree in education or a related field, and many district positions require a master's degree. Candidates working in public K-12 settings typically need a valid Texas teaching certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency, often paired with a curriculum or instructional leadership certification. Some senior roles require a principal or instructional leadership certificate through TEA. Corporate and higher education roles generally substitute relevant instructional design credentials and a portfolio of curriculum work for TEA certification.
How much do curriculum coordinators make in Texas?
Curriculum coordinators in Texas earn a median of about $78,710 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $52,490 for the lowest 10% to over $106,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire curriculum coordinators in Texas?
Employers hiring curriculum coordinators in Texas right now include Midland Independent School District, Austin Community College, and Dallas Independent School District, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large independent school districts, state university systems, and major healthcare and technology companies with in-house training divisions are among the most consistent sources of full-time curriculum coordinator openings in the state.
Which Texas cities have the most curriculum coordinator jobs?
Midland, Austin, and Dallas have the most curriculum coordinator openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas lead because of their massive independent school districts and concentration of corporate headquarters with large learning and development teams, while Austin's growth in technology and higher education has made it a steady source of both K-12 and instructional design roles.
Are there remote curriculum coordinator jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many education roles, since curriculum design and instructional content development can often be done independently. About 0% of curriculum coordinator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting growing employer comfort with distributed curriculum teams. The portions of the role most commonly done remotely are content writing, materials review, and learning management system administration, while teacher coaching and professional development facilitation tend to remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a curriculum coordinator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is transitioning from a classroom teacher role, since Texas school districts strongly favor candidates with direct teaching experience and a working knowledge of TEKS. Large districts such as Houston ISD and Dallas ISD regularly post curriculum specialist or instructional coach positions that serve as natural stepping stones into coordinator roles. Building a portfolio of original lesson plans, unit designs, or training materials strengthens any application. Completing a graduate certificate in curriculum and instruction, or pursuing an instructional leadership endorsement through TEA, signals readiness for coordinator-level responsibility to Texas hiring teams.
Where can I find and apply to curriculum coordinator jobs in Texas?
