Certified Phlebotomy Technician Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified phlebotomy technician in Washington?
Washington does not require a state-issued phlebotomy license, but nearly all employers require a nationally recognized certification such as the Certified Phlebotomy Technician credential from the National Healthcareer Association or the Phlebotomy Technician certification from ASCP. Most candidates complete an accredited phlebotomy training program at a community college like Bellevue College or Spokane Falls Community College, then pass a certification exam and accumulate required clinical draw hours before applying.
Which companies hire certified phlebotomy technicians in Washington?
Companies currently hiring certified phlebotomy technicians in Washington include University Of Washington, Planned Parenthood, and TridentCare, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Washington's large integrated health systems and regional blood donation networks generate the most consistent phlebotomy openings across the state.
Which Washington cities have the most certified phlebotomy technician jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Tacoma are the cities with the most certified phlebotomy technician openings in Washington. Seattle anchors demand through its dense concentration of academic medical centers, multisite health systems, and reference laboratories, while Spokane and Tacoma reflect the strong regional hospital and outpatient clinic networks that anchor eastern Washington and the South Sound corridor.
Are there remote certified phlebotomy technician jobs in Washington?
Yes, but they're rare. Phlebotomy is a hands-on clinical role that requires in-person patient contact, so most positions are on-site by nature. About 0% of certified phlebotomy technician openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve scheduling coordination, laboratory administration, or training and quality oversight rather than direct patient draws.
How can I get hired as a certified phlebotomy technician in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing an accredited phlebotomy program that includes supervised clinical externship hours, which satisfies the draw-count requirement for national certification and gives you documented hands-on experience. Washington community colleges such as Renton Technical College and Shoreline Community College offer short-term programs with employer partnerships. Entry-level positions at blood centers like Bloodworks Northwest, or patient services roles at outpatient lab draw stations, regularly accept new graduates. Holding a current national certification before applying gives candidates a clear edge over uncertified applicants.
Where can I find and apply to certified phlebotomy technician jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to certified phlebotomy technician jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings across hospital systems, outpatient labs, blood donation centers, and mobile draw services. Search the listings to find roles that match your certification and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
