Chief Financial Officer Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a chief financial officer job in Atlanta?
Atlanta's strongest hiring for chief financial officers comes from its financial services corridor in Buckhead, major health systems anchored in Midtown, and the growing fintech and SaaS cluster around Peachtree Street. Candidates with a CPA, an MBA from a recognized program, or deep experience in mergers and acquisitions tend to stand out locally. Networking through the Atlanta CFO Leadership Council and building relationships with executive search firms that focus on the Southeast gives you a concrete edge in this market.
Which companies hire chief financial officers in Atlanta?
Atlanta chief financial officer roles are posted by Honeywell, The Home Depot, and Jobot and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The city draws a mix of Fortune 500 corporations headquartered in Buckhead, large regional health systems, and high-growth technology companies that have relocated to Midtown and the Perimeter area.
Are there remote chief financial officer jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, though remote availability is limited given that most chief financial officer roles require close coordination with boards, investors, and executive teams on-site. About 90% of chief financial officer openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements more common than fully remote. Financial planning, analysis, and investor relations responsibilities tend to be the functions Atlanta employers are most willing to accommodate off-site.
How can I get a chief financial officer job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is moving through controller or VP of Finance roles at mid-size companies in sectors like real estate, logistics, or technology, where the city has a deep bench of growing firms that promote from within. Targeting Atlanta-based private equity portfolio companies or regional banks that develop finance leadership internally gives you structured exposure to CFO-level work. Building visibility through local CPA societies and finance leadership roundtables accelerates the transition.
Which industries hire the most chief financial officers in Atlanta?
Atlanta chief financial officer roles concentrate in Education, Manufacturing, and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Atlanta's position as a regional hub for banking and payments, a major center for hospital systems and health tech, and a growing destination for enterprise software companies drives consistent demand for senior finance leadership across all three sectors.
