Civil Engineer Jobs in Denver: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a civil engineer job in Denver?
Focus on Denver's strongest hiring sectors: transportation infrastructure, water and stormwater systems, and urban redevelopment. The city's rapid growth along the I-70 corridor, the National Western Complex area, and the South Platte River keeps municipal agencies and engineering consultancies busy year-round. Candidates with experience in CDOT project work, RTD transit expansion, or Denver Water systems stand out in local hiring pipelines.
Which companies hire civil engineers in Denver?
Companies currently hiring civil engineers in Denver include S.A. Miro, S. A. Miro, and WSP, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Denver's market is a mix of large engineering consultancies, municipal departments, and regional infrastructure contractors with strong roots in Colorado's Front Range growth.
Are there remote civil engineer jobs in Denver?
Yes, but with limits: civil engineering work that involves field inspections, site visits, or construction oversight is almost always on-site, while design, modeling, and project management tasks are more compatible with remote arrangements. About 59% of civil engineer openings tied to Denver are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Roles at consulting firms handling planning and design phases in Denver tend to offer the most flexible schedules.
How can I get a civil engineer job in Denver with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Denver is through engineering consulting firms that hire EIT-designated candidates to support senior engineers on active Front Range projects. Look for project engineer assistant and junior design roles at firms working on Denver's ongoing drainage, transit, and road expansion programs. A Colorado EIT credential combined with AutoCAD or Civil 3D familiarity gives entry-level candidates a clear edge in local interviews.
Which industries hire the most civil engineers in Denver?
The sectors hiring the most civil engineers in Denver are Consulting & Professional Services, Energy, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Denver's sustained population growth, active RTD light rail expansion, and aging water infrastructure keep demand in those sectors consistently above national averages.
