Clinical Assistant Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a clinical assistant job in Columbus?
Focus your search on Columbus's hospital systems, large multispecialty clinic networks, and the dense concentration of outpatient practices near the Ohio State University Medical Center and Riverside Drive corridor. Candidates with hands-on experience in phlebotomy, EHR documentation, or patient intake stand out in this market. Applying directly to health system career portals and targeting roles in high-growth specialty areas like orthopedics, urgent care, and behavioral health gives you the best foothold locally.
Which companies hire clinical assistants in Columbus?
Employers hiring clinical assistants in Columbus right now include The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, The Ohio State University, and Ohio ENT & Allergy Physicians, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbus's hiring pool is broad, covering large academic health systems, regional hospital networks, and independent specialty practices that cluster throughout the metro's medical and suburban office corridors.
Are there remote clinical assistant jobs in Columbus?
Yes, though remote work is limited for hands-on clinical roles and more common for desk-based functions like prior authorization, medical records, and care coordination. About 21% of clinical assistant openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting demand from Columbus-area health systems and insurance-adjacent employers. Administrative and telehealth-support functions are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements locally.
How can I get a clinical assistant job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through high-volume urgent care centers and federally qualified health centers, which regularly hire candidates with a medical assistant certificate or even relevant coursework in place of full clinical experience. Columbus's community health network and university-affiliated clinics often offer paid internships or externship-to-hire programs. Volunteering at OhioHealth or Mount Carmel community sites, then applying internally, is a well-worn local strategy for first-time candidates.
Which industries hire the most clinical assistants in Columbus?
Columbus clinical assistant roles concentrate in Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbus's strong academic medical infrastructure, its large managed-care employer base, and steady growth in outpatient and specialty care all sustain consistent demand across those sectors.
