Clinical Assistant Professor Jobs in Springfield: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a clinical assistant professor job in Springfield?
Clinical assistant professor roles in Springfield are concentrated at academic medical centers, teaching hospitals, and professional programs tied to SIU School of Medicine and UIS. Candidates with active clinical practice credentials alongside teaching experience stand out in this market. Targeting departments that bridge hands-on patient care and classroom instruction, such as family medicine, nursing, and allied health, gives applicants the strongest foothold in Springfield's employer mix.
Which companies hire clinical assistant professors in Springfield?

Springfield's hiring pool leans heavily toward academic medical institutions and regionally accredited universities that maintain clinical training partnerships with local hospitals and health systems.
Are there remote clinical assistant professor jobs in Springfield?
Yes, though remote availability is limited for this role given the hands-on clinical supervision and lab instruction it typically requires. About 0% of clinical assistant professor openings tied to Springfield are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with those positions most commonly found in didactic coursework, online health sciences programs, or administrative faculty duties rather than direct patient-care instruction.
How can I get a clinical assistant professor job in Springfield with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Springfield is a part-time or adjunct clinical faculty appointment at SIU School of Medicine or UIS, which regularly bring in licensed practitioners to teach on a course-by-course basis. From there, building a record of course evaluations and student outcomes creates a competitive portfolio for full clinical assistant professor openings. Entry-level candidates with strong clinical hours but limited teaching experience should also look at preceptor and clinical coordinator roles at Springfield's teaching hospitals as a lateral step.
