Clinical Data Analyst Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical data analyst in Rhode Island?
A bachelor's degree in health informatics, biostatistics, public health, or a closely related field is the standard entry point for clinical data analyst roles in Rhode Island. The state does not issue a specific license for this role, but employers across Rhode Island's hospital systems and insurers consistently prefer candidates who hold credentials such as the Certified Health Data Analyst designation from the American Health Information Management Association, which is widely recognized in the state's healthcare market.
How much do clinical data analysts make in Rhode Island?
Clinical data analysts in Rhode Island earn a median of about $102,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,310 for the lowest 10% to over $158,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire clinical data analysts in Rhode Island?
Companies currently hiring clinical data analysts in Rhode Island include CVS Health, Citizens, and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of integrated health systems and regional insurers means clinical analytics roles often sit within large, established organizations rather than small startups.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most clinical data analyst jobs?
Providence, Rhode Island, and Johnston account for the largest share of clinical data analyst openings in Rhode Island. Providence anchors demand as the home of major health systems and the state's academic medical infrastructure, while Woonsocket and East Providence generate openings through large insurance and pharmacy benefit operations headquartered there.
Are there remote clinical data analyst jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 72% of clinical data analyst openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting that much of the work involves database querying, statistical analysis, and report generation that does not require on-site presence. Roles focused on real-world evidence and claims data analysis are the most likely to be fully remote.
How can I get hired as a clinical data analyst in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a health information management, data coordinator, or clinical research coordinator role at one of Rhode Island's major health systems such as Lifespan or Care New England, which regularly bring in early-career candidates and develop them into analytics positions. Completing coursework or a certificate in health informatics and gaining hands-on exposure to electronic health records through internships at Rhode Island Hospital or Women and Infants Hospital strengthens a candidacy considerably.
