Clinical Research Associate Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a clinical research associate job in Columbus?
Focus on Columbus's three main hiring clusters: academic medical centers anchored by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, contract research organizations operating out of the Easton and Polaris corridors, and mid-size pharmaceutical and medical device companies concentrated near Dublin and Worthington. Candidates with GCP certification, experience in oncology or cardiovascular trials, and familiarity with EDC platforms like Medidata or Veeva stand out in this market.
Which companies hire clinical research associates in Columbus?
Employers hiring clinical research associates in Columbus right now include The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, The Ohio State University, and Nationwide Children's Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbus draws a mix of large academic health systems, global CROs with regional offices, and specialty pharma companies that run their own internal trial programs.
Are there remote clinical research associate jobs in Columbus?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role, since site-facing CRA work requires in-person site visits while data management, regulatory, and study coordinator support functions are far more remote-friendly. About 23% of clinical research associate openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with the remote share concentrated in sponsor-side and CRO desk roles. On-site or hybrid arrangements dominate for roles tied directly to OSU Wexner or Columbus-area clinical sites.
How can I get a clinical research associate job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through a clinical research coordinator role at one of the OSU Wexner Medical Center departments or a community hospital affiliate, which builds the site-level trial experience CROs and sponsors require before promoting to a traveling CRA. Columbus-area CROs also post entry-level clinical trial assistant and data management roles that serve as a direct bridge, and earning your ACRP or SoCRA certification while in a coordinator position accelerates the transition.
Which industries hire the most clinical research associates in Columbus?
The sectors hiring the most clinical research associates in Columbus are Education and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbus's position as a major academic medical research hub, combined with a growing cluster of CROs and specialty pharma companies in its northwest suburbs, keeps demand concentrated in these areas rather than spread broadly.
