Clinician Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinician in Louisiana?
The path depends on your clinical specialty, but most licensed clinicians in Louisiana must obtain state licensure through the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners, the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners, or the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, depending on discipline. You will need a relevant graduate degree, supervised clinical hours, and a passing score on the appropriate national licensure exam before the board will issue a Louisiana license.
Which companies hire clinicians in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring clinicians in Louisiana include MedVet, OCEANS HEALTHCARE, and Optum, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Louisiana's large integrated health systems, federally qualified health centers, and state-operated behavioral health facilities tend to post the most consistent openings across the state.
Which Louisiana cities have the most clinician jobs?
Lafayette, New Orleans, and Shreveport are the Louisiana cities with the most clinician openings. New Orleans leads because of its concentration of academic medical centers and large health systems, while Baton Rouge and Shreveport generate significant volume through regional hospital networks and state government-affiliated health facilities serving their surrounding parishes.
Are there remote clinician jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields because much clinical work requires in-person patient contact. About 20% of clinician openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the telehealth-eligible portion of the role. Behavioral health counseling and psychiatric evaluation are the clinical sub-areas where remote or hybrid arrangements appear most frequently in Louisiana listings.
How can I get hired as a clinician in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a supervised clinical internship or a residency program, which Ochsner Health, LSU Health, and community health centers across Louisiana offer to new graduates completing their required post-degree hours. Roles such as case manager, patient navigator, or behavioral health technician are common lateral entry points that build the documented hours needed for full licensure. Having your provisional or associate license from the relevant Louisiana board in hand before applying gives you a meaningful edge over unlicensed candidates.
Where can I find and apply to clinician jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to clinician jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Louisiana employers across the state. Search for roles that match your specialty, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
