Cloud Security Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cloud security engineer in Texas?
Cloud security engineering in Texas does not require a state-issued license, but employers consistently expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or information systems alongside a recognized cloud security certification such as CCSP, CISSP, or an AWS or Azure security specialty credential. Texas hiring managers at defense contractors and financial institutions place particular weight on hands-on lab experience, so building a home lab or completing cloud-provider training paths strengthens your candidacy considerably.
How much do cloud security engineers make in Texas?
Cloud security engineers in Texas earn a median of about $129,890 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,990 for the lowest 10% to over $178,550 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cloud security engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring cloud security engineers in Texas right now include Apple, Equinix, and American Heart Association, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of defense contractors, regional banks, and large enterprise technology headquarters means demand is distributed across multiple industries rather than isolated to a single sector.
Which Texas cities have the most cloud security engineer jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Plano account for the most cloud security engineer openings in Texas. Austin's dense technology employer base, Dallas's financial services and telecom sector, and Houston's energy and healthcare enterprise infrastructure all drive consistent demand, while suburban corridors like Plano and Round Rock contribute additional volume through major corporate campuses headquartered in those areas.
Are there remote cloud security engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. Cloud security work is largely performed on distributed systems and doesn't require physical presence in a data center, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 37% of cloud security engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly the industry has adopted flexible work for this role. Roles focused on cloud architecture review, policy writing, and threat modeling are the most consistently offered remotely.
How can I get hired as a cloud security engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior cloud operations or IT security analyst role, which several large Texas employers use as a pipeline into cloud security teams. Dell Technologies, USAA, and Texas Instruments run structured early-career programs that place candidates without direct cloud security experience into rotational or associate-level positions. Earning an entry-level cloud certification from AWS or Microsoft Azure, pairing it with a documented home lab project, and targeting Texas defense contractors that maintain cleared IT apprenticeship pipelines gives candidates without experience a concrete and credible starting point.
Where can I find and apply to cloud security engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to cloud security engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one.
