INTRODUCTION
The Internal Communications Specialist is a creative storyteller with a strong ability to multitask, helping create, coordinate, execute and monitor engaging internal communications geared toward employees. The Internal Communications Specialist collaborates with teams across the organization to develop content to inform and educate employees about all things ArcBest, including general news and announcements, articles for employee publications, posting on company intranet and internal print and digital signage, and supports change management initiatives. This position also helps promote company culture and employee engagement through internal messaging as well as through employee and community events.
Responsibilities
- Manage internal communications editorial calendar to facilitate the delivery of relevant, timely internal company news and information that supports the company's brand, corporate positioning and messaging through various mediums, including emails, video scripts, intranet and internal signage.
- Research and interview employees and others to gather information necessary to complete article assignments.
- Promote the creation of By-Lines, the ABF employee magazine, and Wayfinder employee e-newsletter and help write news and feature articles and edit content for each publication.
- Write, proofread and fact-check internal communications across the organization.
- Collaborate with department personnel to determine communications needs, including offering advice and strategy on the best messaging, mediums and times to communicate.
- Serve as subject matter expert for internal email communications platform and/or digital signage platform and/or employee communications intranet pages.
- Maintain discretion and professionalism to protect sensitive information.
- Stay well informed of industry trends and events, sharing news with appropriate personnel.
- Own event logistics (food, room reservations, calendar invitations), distribution list updates/management and monitor team inboxes.
- Other duties and projects, as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or equivalent experience, required
Experience:
- 3 years writing experience in writing-extensive position, including internal communications, journalism, content marketing or related, preferred
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Hours:

Compensation:
- This is an hourly position paid biweekly.
