Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Industrial Maintenance Technician Jobs at ABM Industries Jobs
Certify your trades credentials before applying
ABM clients expect technicians who can work independently on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems from day one. Have EPA 608 certification and any relevant state licenses verified and translated into U.S.-equivalent documentation before your first interview.
Target ABM's facilities services contracts directly
ABM staffs technicians based on client site contracts, so roles open when new contracts are won or existing sites expand headcount. Search their postings by region and filter for sites tied to aviation, healthcare, or commercial real estate, where maintenance demand stays consistent.
Ask HR which petition timeline applies to your hire
ABM sponsors both H-1B cap-subject and cap-exempt petitions depending on the hiring site. If your start date doesn't align with the October 1 H-1B effective date, clarify early whether a change of status or consular processing route will apply to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Understand how PERM affects your EB-2 or EB-3 path
For permanent residence through ABM, your employer must file a PERM labor certification with DOL before sponsoring an EB-2 or EB-3 petition. This process typically takes 12 to 18 months and requires ABM to document that no qualified U.S. worker was available for your specific role and location.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles by location
ABM posts Industrial Maintenance Technician positions across dozens of metro areas simultaneously, and sponsorship availability varies by site. Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles specifically flagged for visa sponsorship so you're not applying to positions where sponsorship isn't on the table.
Negotiate your offer with the LCA prevailing wage in mind
Before ABM files your H-1B petition, DOL requires a certified Labor Condition Application confirming your wage meets the prevailing rate for your job title and work location. Reviewing the relevant wage level for your metro area through DOL's Foreign Labor Certification Data Center helps you negotiate from an informed position.

Find Industrial Maintenance Technician at ABM Industries JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does ABM Industries sponsor H-1B visas for Industrial Maintenance Technicians?
Yes, ABM Industries has sponsored H-1B visas for Industrial Maintenance Technicians. Because ABM operates under client-site contracts across multiple states, sponsorship decisions are often tied to specific facility needs and headcount approvals at the regional level. Confirming sponsorship availability for your target location early in the process saves time before you get deep into interviews.
How do I apply for Industrial Maintenance Technician jobs at ABM Industries?
Applications go through ABM's careers portal, where roles are listed by location and facility type. Postings for Industrial Maintenance Technicians are common across aviation, healthcare, and commercial building sites. Migrate Mate lets you browse ABM's open positions filtered specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility, so you can focus your applications on roles where international candidates are being considered.
Which visa types are commonly used for Industrial Maintenance Technician roles at ABM Industries?
The H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant visa pathway for this role at ABM, covering specialty occupation positions that require at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field. For permanent residence, ABM has used the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories, which require a PERM labor certification filed with DOL before the immigrant petition can proceed.
What qualifications does ABM Industries expect for sponsored Industrial Maintenance Technician roles?
ABM typically looks for technicians with hands-on experience across HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and building automation. EPA 608 certification is commonly required for roles involving refrigerants. For H-1B sponsorship, the position must qualify as a specialty occupation, so a relevant associate or bachelor's degree in a mechanical, electrical, or engineering technology discipline strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if ABM Industries extends an offer?
For H-1B sponsorship, ABM must first file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL, which takes one to two weeks. The H-1B petition is then filed with USCIS, with standard processing taking three to five months or faster with premium processing. If your role is on an EB-2 or EB-3 path, factor in 12 to 18 months for the PERM labor certification before the immigrant petition stage begins.
