INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Our mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives extends globally. To support this mission, we are building out the backbone of our fintech systems to ensure they are scalable, compliant, and capable of supporting rapid product innovation. We’re looking for a strong product leader to drive this vision forward!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the product roadmap for subledger and reporting infrastructure, the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface, and reconciliation and controls that enable month-end close and auditability. This role owns the end-to-end journey of financial data from engineering systems to the general ledger/ERP and partners closely with Accounting, data, and platform teams.
What you’ll do:
- Own the financial reporting product roadmap: subledgers, standardized accounting-event interface, journal-entry flows, GL/ERP integrations, and reconciliation tooling.
- Work with Engineering to define subledger patterns and the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface: accounting-event schemas, API contracts, domain boundaries, and migration strategies for operational systems to adopt the standard.
- Translate accounting policy and audit requirements into product specs, posting logic, SOX controls, and implementable engineering requirements.
- Lead matching/reconciliation strategy and automation: run vendor evaluations, define recon rules and ownership, and deliver reconciliation automation for high-volume, critical accounts.
- Own data lineage, quality metrics, SLAs, monitoring, and remediation flows for critical reports and journal feeds.
- Run product discovery, prioritization, and cross-functional programs: scope pilots, set success metrics, manage tradeoffs, and deliver production systems with Engineering, Accounting, and Finance.
- Drive governance and change management: coordinate Accounting, Finance, Product and Engineering; own go-to-production signoffs, runbooks, and stakeholder training.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What we’re looking for:
- 4+ years product management experience owning financial platforms or data products — responsible for roadmap, APIs, data models, and cross-functional delivery.
- Practical accounting experience required: hands-on accounting experience with direct ownership of month-end close, reconciliations, and external audits. CPA preferred. Practical domain expertise is more important than the credential alone.
- Proven track record of building and working knowledge of financial systems, subledger → GL flows, journal-entry design, reconciliations, SOX controls, and external audit processes.
- Strong technical fluency — data models, ETL/DBT, SQL, and API design — and the ability to partner tightly with engineering and data teams on lineage and transformations.
- Exceptional communicator and cross-functional influencer: translates accounting requirements into technical specs, drives consensus across Finance & Engineering, and presents tradeoffs to senior leaders.
- Willingness to work East Coast hours.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or other related fields; or equivalent practical experience.

Frame your credentials around financial regulation
Affirm operates under federal consumer lending laws, so credentials tied to BSA, AML, or CFPB compliance carry more weight than general corporate governance experience. Certifications like CAMS or CRCM signal exactly the regulatory fluency Affirm's compliance team looks for.
Target roles that align with your OPT timeline
F-1 OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization, with a 24-month STEM extension if your degree qualifies. Affirm's compliance function spans fintech-adjacent roles that often qualify under eligible STEM categories, so confirm your degree's CIP code with your DSO before applying.
Research Affirm's DOL Labor Condition Application filings
Before your interview, search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for Affirm's LCA filings under compliance job titles. This shows you the prevailing wage levels Affirm has certified, which helps you negotiate a salary that keeps your H-1B petition on solid footing.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Affirm sponsors both H-1B transfers and new cap-subject petitions, but the timeline differs significantly. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, a transfer can begin on day one. Ask your recruiter early whether the role is structured for a transfer or requires lottery selection.
Build your EB-2 or EB-3 case from your first year
Affirm sponsors employment-based Green Cards for compliance roles. Start documenting specialized experience, progressive responsibility, and any U.S.-specific regulatory work from your first day. PERM labor certification requires detailed records of your qualifications, so the earlier you organize this, the smoother the process.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Compliance Analyst roles
Affirm posts compliance openings across multiple locations and seniority levels. Use Migrate Mate to filter Affirm's active Compliance Analyst listings by visa type so you can identify which specific postings are open to sponsored candidates before you invest time in the application.

Find Compliance Analyst at Affirm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Compliance Analysts?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Compliance Analyst roles. The company files both cap-subject petitions through the annual USCIS lottery and cap-exempt transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer. If you're mid-status and switching jobs, a transfer lets you start working at Affirm while the new petition is pending, provided Affirm files before your current status expires.
How do I apply for Compliance Analyst jobs at Affirm?
You can find open Compliance Analyst roles on Affirm's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters Affirm's listings by visa sponsorship eligibility. Affirm's hiring process for compliance roles typically includes a recruiter screen, a technical assessment covering regulatory knowledge, and multiple rounds of interviews focused on your experience with consumer financial regulations, risk frameworks, and cross-functional stakeholder work.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly sponsor for Compliance Analysts?
Affirm sponsors H-1B visas, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in qualifying programs, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible professional categories, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. The right visa depends on your nationality, education, and where you are in your immigration journey. TN is available immediately for qualifying professionals, while H-1B cap-subject petitions follow USCIS's annual lottery cycle.
What qualifications does Affirm look for in Compliance Analyst candidates?
Affirm looks for candidates with a background in financial services compliance, regulatory analysis, or risk management. Relevant experience includes working with BSA or AML frameworks, consumer protection regulations like those enforced by the CFPB, or internal audit functions at a bank, fintech, or financial institution. A bachelor's degree in finance, law, business, or a related field is typically expected. Compliance certifications such as CAMS strengthen your application significantly.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a Compliance Analyst role at Affirm?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year, with an April 1 earliest start date for cap-subject workers. If you're selected in the lottery, Affirm's legal team files your full petition by June. You'd typically start no earlier than October 1. If you're already on H-1B status elsewhere, a transfer to Affirm can happen at any point in the year, with portability protections applying once the new petition is filed and your prior approval was held for more than 180 days.
