Build a portfolio around fintech user flows
Affirm's design work centers on checkout experiences, credit decision screens, and repayment interfaces. A portfolio that shows you've solved trust and clarity problems in financial or transactional products will resonate more than general product design case studies.
Target roles requiring specific design systems experience
Affirm's open UX Designer postings often emphasize design systems, accessibility standards, and cross-functional collaboration with engineers. Applying to roles where your background matches these signals increases the likelihood that the team will prioritize moving you through to offer.
Understand how PERM affects your long-term path
Affirm sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, which require a PERM labor certification filed with DOL. That process typically takes one to two years before an I-140 petition is filed, so ask during the offer stage whether the company initiates PERM sponsorship and at what milestone.
Negotiate the H-1B filing timeline into your offer
H-1B registration opens in March for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer in late spring or summer after the lottery, your start date will be the following October 1 at the earliest. Confirm with Affirm's HR team whether they'll hold the role or bridge you on another status.
Use Migrate Mate to find open UX Designer roles at Affirm
Filtering by sponsor history and visa type saves time when you're targeting a specific company. Migrate Mate surfaces Affirm's UX Designer openings alongside sponsorship data so you can prioritize applications where your visa type is already supported.

Find UX Designer at Affirm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for UX Designers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for UX Designer roles. The company has a consistent pattern of sponsoring design talent across its product teams. If you're currently on F-1 OPT or another nonimmigrant status, Affirm can file an H-1B petition on your behalf, subject to the annual lottery and October 1 cap-subject start date.
How do I apply for UX Designer jobs at Affirm?
You can browse and apply for UX Designer openings at Affirm through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles with visa sponsorship available. Affirm's hiring process for design roles typically includes a portfolio review, a take-home or live design exercise, and multiple rounds of interviews covering design thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and fintech-specific problem-solving.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly sponsor for UX Designer roles?
Affirm sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for UX Designer positions, and supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for longer-term employees. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying design roles. F-1 CPT is typically relevant for graduate students completing internship-based programs with a UX focus.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for UX Designer roles?
Affirm's UX Designer postings generally require a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design, proficiency in Figma, and experience collaborating directly with engineers and product managers. Roles at more senior levels expect familiarity with design systems and accessibility standards. A background in fintech, payments, or consumer financial products strengthens your application, though it is not always required at junior levels.
How do I time my application around H-1B sponsorship at Affirm?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date, so applying to Affirm in the December-to-February window gives you the best chance of receiving an offer before registration closes. If you miss the lottery, USCIS allows one additional registration attempt the following March. Affirm can also explore cap-exempt options if you hold a qualifying prior H-1B approval.
