Frame your portfolio around financial data products
Affirm evaluates Data Product Managers on experience with credit, risk, or payments data specifically. Prepare case studies that show how you've defined data requirements, built pipelines, or improved decisioning in a regulated financial context before your first screen.
Target roles that map to your visa category
Affirm sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT candidates, but hiring teams prioritize roles where your status timeline aligns with the team's needs. If your OPT expires within six months, clarify your H-1B cap-gap eligibility upfront so recruiters don't flag a timeline mismatch.
Verify your degree field satisfies specialty occupation criteria
USCIS requires that your degree field directly relate to the Data Product Manager role. Degrees in computer science, statistics, or information systems map cleanly. A degree in an unrelated field, even with strong experience, can complicate the H-1B petition and should be addressed with your employer's immigration counsel early.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Data Product Manager roles at Affirm
Affirm posts Data Product Manager openings across multiple teams simultaneously, and listings close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Affirm roles that support your visa type so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed, not assumed.
Negotiate the offer before the LCA filing window closes
Once Affirm's legal team initiates the Labor Condition Application with DOL, the role title and wage level are locked. Raise any concerns about title, salary band, or start date during the offer stage, not after the LCA is filed, to avoid amendments that delay your start.
Prepare for a technical and cross-functional interview structure
Affirm's Data Product Manager interviews test both SQL and product sense, alongside stakeholder scenarios involving risk or compliance teams. Practicing data product cases specific to lending or underwriting signals domain readiness and reduces the chance of a rejection that forces a sponsorship timeline restart.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Data Product Managers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Data Product Manager roles. The process typically begins after you receive a formal offer. Affirm works with immigration counsel to file the Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submits the H-1B petition to USCIS. Cap-subject petitions must align with the annual April filing window, so your start date will depend on where you fall in that cycle.
How do I apply for Data Product Manager jobs at Affirm?
Apply directly through Affirm's careers page or use Migrate Mate to browse open Data Product Manager roles at Affirm filtered by visa sponsorship type. Before applying, confirm the role aligns with your immigration status, since some positions have team-specific constraints on sponsorship timelines. Tailoring your resume to highlight fintech or financial data experience will strengthen your application.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly use for Data Product Manager roles?
Affirm sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for this role. F-1 OPT is typically the entry point for recent graduates, with H-1B sponsorship following if you're selected in the lottery. TN visa is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. Green Card sponsorship through PERM is generally initiated after you've established tenure at the company.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for a Data Product Manager?
Affirm looks for candidates with a background in computer science, data science, or a quantitative field combined with product management experience in a data-heavy environment. For H-1B purposes, your degree must relate directly to the role, which USCIS will assess during petition review. Practical experience with SQL, data pipelines, and cross-functional work in financial services or fintech strengthens both your candidacy and the specialty occupation argument.
How do I plan my timeline if I'm on F-1 OPT targeting an Affirm H-1B sponsorship?
If Affirm hires you on OPT, you need to be registered in USCIS's E-Verify system, which Affirm is enrolled in, to qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. That extension gives you up to three OPT lottery cycles to be selected. If you're not selected after your STEM extension expires, you'd need to either leave the country or transition to another status. Build this timeline into your conversation with your recruiter before accepting the offer.
