INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Our mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives extends globally. To support this mission, we are building out the backbone of our fintech systems to ensure they are scalable, compliant, and capable of supporting rapid product innovation. We’re looking for a strong product leader to drive this vision forward!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the product roadmap for subledger and reporting infrastructure, the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface, and reconciliation and controls that enable month-end close and auditability. This role owns the end-to-end journey of financial data from engineering systems to the general ledger/ERP and partners closely with Accounting, data, and platform teams.
What you’ll do:
- Own the financial reporting product roadmap: subledgers, standardized accounting-event interface, journal-entry flows, GL/ERP integrations, and reconciliation tooling.
- Work with Engineering to define subledger patterns and the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface: accounting-event schemas, API contracts, domain boundaries, and migration strategies for operational systems to adopt the standard.
- Translate accounting policy and audit requirements into product specs, posting logic, SOX controls, and implementable engineering requirements.
- Lead matching/reconciliation strategy and automation: run vendor evaluations, define recon rules and ownership, and deliver reconciliation automation for high-volume, critical accounts.
- Own data lineage, quality metrics, SLAs, monitoring, and remediation flows for critical reports and journal feeds.
- Run product discovery, prioritization, and cross-functional programs: scope pilots, set success metrics, manage tradeoffs, and deliver production systems with Engineering, Accounting, and Finance.
- Drive governance and change management: coordinate Accounting, Finance, Product and Engineering; own go-to-production signoffs, runbooks, and stakeholder training.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What we’re looking for:
- 4+ years product management experience owning financial platforms or data products — responsible for roadmap, APIs, data models, and cross-functional delivery.
- Practical accounting experience required: hands-on accounting experience with direct ownership of month-end close, reconciliations, and external audits. CPA preferred. Practical domain expertise is more important than the credential alone.
- Proven track record of building and working knowledge of financial systems, subledger → GL flows, journal-entry design, reconciliations, SOX controls, and external audit processes.
- Strong technical fluency — data models, ETL/DBT, SQL, and API design — and the ability to partner tightly with engineering and data teams on lineage and transformations.
- Exceptional communicator and cross-functional influencer: translates accounting requirements into technical specs, drives consensus across Finance & Engineering, and presents tradeoffs to senior leaders.
- Willingness to work East Coast hours.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or other related fields; or equivalent practical experience.

Align your credentials with fintech finance norms
Affirm's Finance roles sit at the intersection of consumer credit and technology, so credentials in financial modeling, risk analytics, or FP&A carry more weight than traditional banking backgrounds. Ensure your resume reflects data-driven decision-making, not just transactional finance experience.
Target roles where specialty occupation is clear
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Finance positions tied to quantitative analysis, credit risk, or financial engineering have stronger footing than generalist titles, so filter your Affirm search toward those specific functions.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Finance openings at Affirm
Affirm posts Finance roles across multiple job boards and its own careers page, making it easy to miss sponsorship-eligible positions. Migrate Mate filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers, so you can find and track Affirm's Finance openings in one place without manually screening every listing.
Ask about LCA filing timelines during the offer stage
Before your H-1B start date, Affirm's legal team must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL. Ask your recruiter early whether the role's prevailing wage determination has been completed, since delays there can push your actual start date past October 1.
Understand how OPT cap-gap affects your Affirm start date
If you're on F-1 OPT when Affirm selects you in the H-1B lottery, cap-gap protection automatically extends your work authorization through September 30. Affirm's HR team typically coordinates with immigration counsel on this, but you should verify your I-94 reflects the extension before your first day.
Position EB-2 or EB-3 as a long-term conversation, not an afterthought
Affirm has filed PERM-backed immigrant visa petitions for Finance professionals, which requires a formal DOL labor market test. Raising your green card timeline expectations during negotiations, not after onboarding, signals that you've done your research and helps both sides plan accordingly.

Find Finance at Affirm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Finance roles?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Finance positions, and the company has an active track record of supporting nonimmigrant visa petitions in this function. Finance roles tied to quantitative analysis, credit risk, or FP&A tend to meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard most cleanly. Affirm works with immigration counsel to handle the filing process, but candidates should confirm sponsorship intent with the recruiter early in the interview process.
How do I apply for Finance jobs at Affirm?
Applications go through Affirm's careers page, where Finance openings are listed under categories like FP&A, Risk, and Corporate Finance. Tailoring your application to reflect fintech-specific skills, particularly data fluency and experience with consumer credit or lending products, improves your chances of clearing the initial screen. Migrate Mate also aggregates Affirm's Finance listings so you can track new postings and filter by visa sponsorship eligibility in one place.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly sponsor for Finance professionals?
Affirm sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Finance roles, with immigrant pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 available for longer-tenured employees. TN is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in roles that map to USMCA-eligible occupations like economist or accountant. The right visa type depends on your nationality, degree, and the specific Finance function you're hired into.
What qualifications does Affirm look for in Finance candidates who need sponsorship?
Affirm's Finance team skews toward candidates with strong analytical foundations, typically a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, accounting, or a related quantitative field. For roles in risk or credit analytics, experience with SQL or Python is increasingly expected alongside traditional finance skills. A degree that directly relates to your target role matters for USCIS's specialty occupation determination, so a mismatch between your credential and the job title can create friction during H-1B filing.
How do I handle timing if my OPT expires before Affirm's H-1B petition is approved?
If Affirm selects you in the H-1B lottery while you're on F-1 OPT, cap-gap protection under federal regulations extends your work authorization automatically through September 30 of that year, as long as your OPT was still valid when the H-1B petition was filed. USCIS issues H-1B approvals with an October 1 start date, so there's typically no gap in authorization for candidates already working at Affirm under OPT. Confirm your I-94 status reflects the cap-gap extension before it takes effect.
