Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Nursing Jobs at Altru Health System Jobs
Verify your NCLEX and state licensure early
North Dakota requires an active RN or LPN license before Altru can extend an offer. Start the NCLEX endorsement process through the North Dakota Board of Nursing well before you apply, since licensing delays are the most common reason conditional offers stall.
Target units with recurring international hires
Altru consistently posts openings across med-surg, critical care, and long-term care. Focusing your application on high-turnover inpatient units increases your odds of landing a role where the hiring team already has experience navigating the sponsorship process.
Prepare a credential evaluation for foreign nursing degrees
If you trained outside the U.S., Altru will require an educational credential evaluation from a NACES-approved body before petitioning USCIS. Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools, or CGFNS, is the standard for nursing and is widely accepted by health system HR teams.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Nursing roles at Altru
Altru posts nursing openings regularly but they fill quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Altru Health System roles that include sponsorship, so you're applying to positions where the employer has already confirmed willingness to file.
Align your start date with H-1B cap and filing windows
If you need H-1B sponsorship, Altru must file during the April lottery window for an October 1 start. Factor this into your negotiation and ask HR to confirm their USCIS filing timeline before you give notice at a current employer.

Find Nursing at Altru Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Altru Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Nursings?
Yes, Altru Health System sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying nursing roles. Registered Nursing positions meet the specialty occupation standard when tied to a BSN-level requirement. Altru's HR team handles the Labor Condition Application through DOL and the subsequent I-129 petition with USCIS, so confirm the specific role's degree requirement with the recruiter before applying.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Altru Health System?
You can find and apply for Nursing roles at Altru Health System through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles where sponsorship is available. When you apply, note your visa type and work authorization status in your profile so Altru's recruiting team can route your application to HR contacts familiar with sponsorship timelines.
Which visa types does Altru Health System commonly use for Nursing roles?
Altru sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for nursing candidates. EB-3 is the most common Green Card route for registered nurses given the Schedule A shortage designation, which bypasses the standard PERM labor market test and can shorten the overall green card timeline significantly.
What qualifications does Altru Health System expect for sponsored Nursing positions?
Most sponsored nursing roles at Altru require an active North Dakota RN or LPN license, a BSN or ADN depending on the unit, and NCLEX passage. Clinical experience in med-surg, ICU, or specialty care strengthens your candidacy. International graduates must also provide a CGFNS credential evaluation and, in some cases, an English proficiency score before USCIS filing can begin.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Nursing role at Altru?
Timeline depends on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization through USCIS takes up to 90 days and must be initiated before graduation. TN sponsorship for Canadian citizens can be obtained at the port of entry on the same day as your start. H-1B requires the April lottery with an October 1 start, meaning total lead time from offer to start can be six months or longer.
