Align Your Credentials Before Applying
Healthcare roles at Altru often require state licensure or board certification before an H-1B or TN petition can move forward. Confirm your credentials are recognized in North Dakota and initiate any verification steps early, since licensing timelines can delay your start date.
Target Roles With Specialty Occupation Footing
Focus your search on clinical and allied health titles where a specific degree is a firm requirement, not a preference. Positions like physical therapist, pharmacist, or diagnostic imaging specialist have clear specialty occupation footing, which strengthens the H-1B petition Altru files on your behalf.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Open Roles
Healthcare openings at Altru aren't always easy to track across job boards. Browse Altru's active Healthcare listings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility using Migrate Mate, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During Interviews
Ask directly whether Altru covers premium processing and legal fees for your petition. Healthcare employers vary widely on this. Knowing upfront whether USCIS filing costs are employer-paid or shared helps you plan your timeline and negotiate from an informed position.
Understand How TN Eligibility Applies
If you're a Canadian or Mexican national, TN status covers several Healthcare occupations Altru hires for, including physical therapists, medical technologists, and pharmacists. TN doesn't require USCIS adjudication and can often be processed at the port of entry, which compresses your start timeline significantly.
Plan Around the H-1B Cap If You're on OPT
If Altru is hiring you on F-1 OPT, your H-1B must be filed during the April registration window for an October 1 start. Work with Altru's HR team by February to confirm they'll submit your registration before the USCIS deadline, leaving no room for administrative delays.

Find Healthcare at Altru Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Altru Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Yes, Altru Health System sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Healthcare roles. To be eligible, the position must meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard, meaning it requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Clinical roles like physical therapists, pharmacists, and diagnostic imaging specialists typically satisfy this requirement. Confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at Altru Health System?
You can search and apply for Healthcare roles directly through Altru's careers portal. To find roles already filtered for visa sponsorship eligibility, browse Altru's open Healthcare listings on Migrate Mate. When applying, confirm your visa type and work authorization status upfront so the recruiting team can route your application to the appropriate HR contact who handles sponsorship requests.
Which visa types does Altru Health System commonly use for Healthcare roles?
Altru sponsors H-1B visas for most skilled Healthcare roles and supports Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM-based petitions for longer-term hires. The organization also works with F-1 OPT and CPT candidates during early-career placements, and TN status applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible allied health occupations such as pharmacists, physical therapists, and medical technologists.
What qualifications does Altru Health System expect for Healthcare roles?
Altru expects candidates to hold a relevant degree in their clinical or health science discipline, along with any applicable state licensure or board certification required to practice in North Dakota. For H-1B or TN sponsorship purposes, your degree must align directly with the job's duties. Roles in diagnostics, therapy, and pharmacy typically have the clearest credential-to-role alignment for visa petition purposes.
How do I know if my visa status fits Altru's Healthcare hiring timeline?
Timeline depends heavily on your current status. F-1 OPT candidates must have Altru file an H-1B registration by the April USCIS deadline for an October 1 cap-subject start. TN applicants can move faster since no USCIS petition is required. If you're already in H-1B status, Altru can file an H-1B transfer and you can begin work once the petition is received by USCIS, without waiting for approval.
