Frame your credentials around program delivery
Apple's Program Development Manager roles emphasize end-to-end ownership of complex hardware or software programs. Tailor your resume to show you've driven program milestones, managed cross-functional dependencies, and delivered against tight product launch cycles, not just coordinated tasks.
Target roles tied to product launch cycles
Apple's hiring for program management tends to accelerate ahead of major product releases. Monitoring job postings during these windows gives you a better shot at roles where headcount has already been approved and timelines are firm, which speeds up sponsorship decisions.
Clarify your visa type before the offer stage
Apple sponsors several visa categories including H-1B, E-3, TN, and H-1B1 visa, each with different timelines and filing requirements. Knowing which category applies to your nationality lets you ask informed questions during offer negotiation rather than discovering constraints after an offer is extended.
Prepare for H-1B cap timing if you're status-switching
If you're moving from F-1 OPT to H-1B, the April lottery and October 1 start date create a gap you need to plan around. Apple typically works with outside counsel on this, but you should understand the 60-day grace period and OPT extension options before your start date.
Understand how PERM affects long-term planning
Apple sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 green cards for this role, which means PERM labor certification is part of the path. DOL's PERM process can take a year or more before an I-140 is even filed, so clarifying green card sponsorship policy early shapes your multi-year immigration timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsorship roles
Searching for Program Development Manager roles across Apple's many open positions is easier when you can filter by verified visa sponsorship history. Migrate Mate lets you do exactly that, surfacing roles where Apple has an active sponsorship track record for this function.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Program Development Managers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Program Development Manager roles. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, Apple can file an H-1B transfer, and you can begin work once the petition is received by USCIS, not just approved. If you need a new H-1B, timing depends on the annual cap lottery, which opens each March for an October 1 start.
How do I apply for Program Development Manager jobs at Apple?
Apply directly through Apple's careers site at jobs.apple.com. These roles typically require a degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, plus experience managing complex programs across hardware or software teams. Tailoring your application to show cross-functional program ownership, not just project coordination, is what tends to move candidates forward at Apple specifically.
Which visa types does Apple commonly use for Program Development Manager roles?
Apple sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa (for Chilean and Singaporean nationals), E-3 visa (for Australian citizens), TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for this role. The right category depends on your nationality and current status. For long-term permanent residency, Apple also sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 green cards through the DOL's PERM process.
What qualifications does Apple look for in Program Development Manager candidates?
Apple's Program Development Manager roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a technical field, with many postings preferring candidates who have managed hardware or software programs through full product lifecycle, including mass production or launch. Experience coordinating across engineering, operations, and supply chain functions at a hardware company is a clear differentiator, as is familiarity with Apple's product cadence and development culture.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Apple as a Program Development Manager?
Timeline depends heavily on your visa category. E-3 and TN visas can be processed within weeks, often through consular appointments or at the border. H-1B transfers are faster than new cap-subject petitions, with USCIS premium processing available for a 15-business-day adjudication. PERM-based green card sponsorship typically spans several years from initiation. Browse verified open roles on Migrate Mate to identify where Apple is actively hiring before timing your application.
