Frame your PM credentials around hardware-software integration
Apple's Software PM roles frequently require demonstrating experience where software decisions intersect with physical product constraints. Tailor your resume and portfolio to show ownership of features that shipped across both software layers and hardware platforms, not just app-level product work.
Target teams where your visa type has precedent
Apple sponsors E-3 visas for Australian citizens and TN visas for Canadians and Mexicans in specialty occupations. If you're applying from one of those nationalities, focus your search on established software organizations within Apple where these visa categories have processed smoothly before.
Request LCA details before accepting an offer
Before signing, confirm your role's Standard Occupational Classification code on the Labor Condition Application. For Software PM roles, the LCA classification affects your prevailing wage tier, which DOL requires Apple to certify before your H-1B or E-3 petition can be filed.
Align your degree field to Apple's specialty occupation standard
Apple's immigration team will assess whether your degree field directly supports a Software PM classification as a specialty occupation. A degree in computer science, software engineering, or information systems strengthens that link more than a general business degree, even with equivalent experience.
Search for open Software PM roles using Migrate Mate
Filtering specifically for visa-sponsoring Software PM openings at Apple saves significant time. Use Migrate Mate to browse current Apple Software Product Manager listings already filtered for sponsorship eligibility across H-1B, E-3, and other supported visa categories.
Plan your filing timeline around Apple's fiscal calendar
Apple's hiring cycles for Software PM roles often accelerate ahead of major product launch periods. If you're targeting an H-1B cap-subject petition, factor in that USCIS's April 1 filing window requires your offer letter and I-129 paperwork to be finalized by late March.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Software Product Managers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Software Product Manager roles. The process requires Apple's immigration team to file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting the H-1B petition to USCIS. For cap-subject petitions, you must be selected in the annual H-1B lottery, which opens each March for an October 1 start date. Apple also uses premium processing in some cases to accelerate USCIS adjudication.
How do I apply for Software Product Manager jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's official careers portal, where Software PM roles are listed by team and location. You can also find Apple's visa-sponsoring Software Product Manager openings filtered by sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which helps narrow results if you need H-1B, E-3, TN, or OPT sponsorship. Apple's hiring process typically involves recruiter screens, cross-functional panel interviews, and a written or presentation component assessing product thinking.
Which visa types does Apple commonly sponsor for Software Product Manager roles?
Apple sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for most nationalities, E-3 visas for Australian citizens, and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying specialty occupations. For F-1 students, Apple participates in OPT and CPT, and supports the transition to H-1B cap sponsorship after graduation. For longer-term pathways, Apple also sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa petitions, including PERM labor certification, for Software PM roles.
What qualifications does Apple expect for Software Product Manager roles?
Apple's Software PM roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a closely related technical field, combined with demonstrated experience shipping software products at scale. Cross-functional collaboration experience across design, hardware, and engineering teams is valued highly. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field must align with the specialty occupation definition USCIS applies to the role, so a technical degree significantly strengthens your petition.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Software PM role at Apple?
For H-1B cap-subject petitions, plan for a minimum of six months from offer acceptance to work authorization start, given the March registration window and October 1 start date. E-3 and TN visas can move faster, often processed at a U.S. consulate in a matter of weeks once your employer provides the necessary documentation. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship for Software PM roles typically takes two or more years from initiation to approval.
