Align your credentials with U.S. licensing standards
Auburn University's construction team works on state-regulated projects, so verify whether your home-country engineering or contractor credentials require NCEES evaluation or Alabama licensure before applying. Unresolved licensing gaps can stall an offer.
Target facilities and capital projects postings directly
Auburn's construction hiring runs through its Office of Facilities Management and Planning, not just a general jobs board. Filter roles by department when searching Auburn's career portal to find active construction openings most likely tied to sponsored positions.
Find Auburn's sponsored construction roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Auburn University's open construction positions by visa type, so you only pursue roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing at each application stage.
Prepare project documentation before your visa interview
Consular officers reviewing H-1B or E-3 applications for construction roles often probe specialty occupation status. Bring a portfolio showing project scope, your decision-making authority, and the technical degree requirement embedded in your duties.
Confirm cap-subject H-1B timing with Auburn's HR team
If you're not currently in H-1B status, Auburn must file during USCIS's annual registration window each March. Missing that window means a 12-month wait, so synchronize your offer acceptance timeline with the lottery calendar.

Find Construction at Auburn University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Auburn University sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes, Auburn University sponsors H-1B visas for Construction positions that qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS guidelines, typically roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field. The university's HR and international office coordinate the petition process, but timing depends on whether you're subject to the annual H-1B cap and lottery.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at Auburn University?
Applications go through Auburn University's official HR portal at auemployment.auburn.edu. Search under Facilities Management or Capital Projects for construction-specific openings. You can also browse Auburn's sponsored roles filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, which lets you confirm sponsorship eligibility before investing time in a full application.
Which visa types does Auburn University commonly use for Construction roles?
Auburn sponsors H-1B and E-3 visas for construction professionals in specialty occupation roles, TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering categories, J-1 for exchange-based appointments, and F-1 OPT or CPT for recent graduates. For long-term hires, the university also pursues EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Auburn University expect for sponsored Construction positions?
Most sponsored construction roles at Auburn require a bachelor's degree or higher in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related technical discipline. For H-1B eligibility specifically, the degree must directly relate to the position's core duties. Relevant licensure such as a Professional Engineer designation or LEED credentials strengthens your application, particularly for senior project or facilities roles.
How do I plan my timeline around Auburn University's visa sponsorship process?
For H-1B sponsorship, build in at least six to eight months from offer acceptance to work start if you need cap-subject status, since USCIS's registration window opens in March each year. E-3 and TN processing through consular appointments can move faster, often within four to eight weeks. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship runs on a separate multi-year track and should be discussed during offer negotiations, not after onboarding.
