Align your resume to BCG's delivery model
BCG embeds DevOps engineers within client-facing case teams, so your resume should highlight cross-functional project work and platform reliability at scale, not just internal tooling. Generic infrastructure experience is harder to position here than consulting-context engineering.
Obtain cloud certifications before applying
BCG's DevOps roles frequently surface requirements around AWS, GCP, or Azure at an architect level. Holding a current professional-tier certification strengthens your specialty occupation case and gives recruiters a concrete credential to anchor the role's degree requirement.
Target BCG's technology practice openings specifically
Senior DevOps Engineer postings within BCG's tech and digital business units differ meaningfully from internal IT roles. Roles tied to client delivery carry stronger specialty occupation documentation and a clearer path through H-1B or E-3 filing.
Clarify your visa type early in recruiter conversations
BCG sponsors multiple nonimmigrant categories including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Naming your specific status upfront, rather than waiting for an offer, lets recruiting route your file to the right legal team and avoids delays when timelines are tight.
Understand H-1B filing windows relative to your OPT end date
If you're on F-1 OPT, the April H-1B registration deadline is non-negotiable. BCG can file a cap-subject petition, but your OPT expiry and any STEM extension timeline need to align with USCIS's October 1 start date or you'll need a bridge arrangement.
Use Migrate Mate to filter BCG DevOps openings by visa type
BCG posts Senior DevOps Engineer roles across multiple business units, and not all are equally sponsorship-friendly. Use Migrate Mate to browse current BCG openings filtered to your specific visa category so you're applying to roles where your status is already a fit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Boston Consulting Group sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Devops Engineers?
Yes, BCG sponsors H-1B visas for Senior DevOps Engineers. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree requirements in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field. BCG's legal and talent teams manage the filing process, but you'll want to flag your visa needs early in the recruiting process so timelines align with USCIS's cap registration window in March.
How do I apply for Senior Devops Engineer jobs at Boston Consulting Group?
You can apply through BCG's careers site or browse current openings filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate. BCG's Senior DevOps Engineer roles are posted across different practice areas, so identifying which business unit aligns with your background before applying will strengthen your application. Tailor your materials to highlight client-delivery infrastructure experience, which is central to how BCG structures these roles.
Which visa types does BCG commonly use for Senior Devops Engineers?
BCG sponsors several nonimmigrant categories for Senior DevOps Engineers, including H-1B, E-3 visa (for Australian citizens), TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), H-1B1 visa (for Chilean and Singaporean nationals), and F-1 OPT and CPT for students. The right category depends on your nationality and current status. Each pathway has different processing timelines and filing requirements, so knowing which applies to you before the offer stage is practical.
What qualifications does BCG expect for Senior Devops Engineers?
BCG's Senior DevOps Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field, combined with several years of hands-on infrastructure or platform engineering experience. Proficiency in cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure is standard, as is experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tooling. Consulting-context experience, where you've worked across multiple clients or industries, differentiates candidates at the senior level.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if I receive an offer from BCG?
Timeline depends on your visa category. For H-1B, BCG must register in March and USCIS selects petitions by lottery, with an October 1 start date. Premium processing can reduce USCIS adjudication to 15 business days after filing. E-3 and TN processing is faster and not subject to a cap, with consular appointments typically scheduling within weeks. BCG's immigration counsel will walk you through the specific steps once an offer is extended.
