Align your credentials to water infrastructure work
Carollo's Environmental Engineer roles center on water and wastewater systems. Before applying, make sure your resume and portfolio reflect relevant technical experience in those areas, not just broad environmental consulting.
Pursue your PE license early
Many of Carollo's project delivery roles expect a Professional Engineer license or active progress toward one. Starting the licensure process before your job search strengthens your candidacy and signals long-term commitment to U.S.-based practice.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Carollo posts Environmental Engineer openings across multiple offices and specializations. Use Migrate Mate to filter positions by the visa types you need, so you target roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Clarify your visa timeline during the offer stage
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm whether your OPT end date allows enough runway before an H-1B or E-3 petition can take effect. Carollo works with immigration counsel, but you need to surface timing constraints before the offer is finalized.
Understand how PERM affects your long-term path
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, your employer must file a PERM labor certification with the DOL before the immigrant petition. At a firm like Carollo, that process typically begins after you've demonstrated performance in the role, not at hire.
Target offices near Carollo's major project regions
Carollo concentrates hiring around water authority contracts in California, Texas, Arizona, and the Pacific Northwest. Applying to offices in those regions increases your chances of landing on a team with active project needs and established sponsorship workflows.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Carollo Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Environmental Engineers?
Yes, Carollo Engineers sponsors H-1B visas for Environmental Engineer roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file petitions for qualified candidates. Because H-1B availability is subject to the annual cap and lottery, timing your offer and application relative to the April filing window is critical. Roles requiring niche technical expertise in water or wastewater systems tend to move through sponsorship approval more smoothly.
How do I apply for Environmental Engineer jobs at Carollo Engineers?
Applications go through Carollo's careers portal, where listings are organized by discipline and office location. You can also find and filter open Environmental Engineer positions on Migrate Mate, which lets you sort by visa sponsorship type to confirm the role aligns with your immigration situation before you apply. Tailoring your application to specific project areas, such as water treatment or infrastructure planning, improves your chances.
Which visa types does Carollo Engineers commonly sponsor for Environmental Engineers?
Carollo sponsors a range of visa categories for this role, including H-1B, E-3 visa for Australian nationals, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, degree level, and career stage. Confirming eligibility before applying saves time during the offer process.
What qualifications does Carollo Engineers expect for Environmental Engineer roles?
Most positions require a bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering, and many mid-level roles expect three to seven years of experience in water or wastewater systems. A Professional Engineer license is frequently listed as preferred or required for senior positions. Familiarity with regulatory permitting, environmental impact assessment, or infrastructure design is a practical differentiator in Carollo's project-driven environment.
How do I time my application if I need visa sponsorship before starting at Carollo Engineers?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorized work period covers the time between your offer and when a new visa petition takes effect. H-1B petitions filed under the regular cap have an October 1 start date, so offers finalized in fall or winter give Carollo enough lead time to file during the April window. E-3 and TN petitions move faster and aren't subject to a lottery, which can simplify scheduling significantly.
