Frame your certifications around CDW's vendor relationships
CDW partners heavily with Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, and similar vendors. Certifications aligned to those ecosystems strengthen your candidacy and signal that you can deliver billable pre-sales value quickly, which directly influences a hiring manager's willingness to initiate sponsorship.
Search for verified Pre Sales Engineer openings on Migrate Mate
Not every CDW job posting flags sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for CDW Pre Sales Engineer roles where sponsorship has been confirmed, so you're not spending time on openings that won't move forward for candidates who need authorization.
Prepare a solutions portfolio before your technical screen
CDW's pre-sales interviews typically include a scenario where you architect a solution for a hypothetical client. Documenting two or three past solution designs, including the technology stack and how you handled objections, gives you concrete material to draw from under pressure.
Align your offer timeline to H-1B cap deadlines if applicable
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, the USCIS registration window opens in March for an October 1 start. Starting conversations with CDW recruiters in the preceding fall gives the legal team enough runway to prepare the petition before registration closes.
Confirm the employer of record before signing anything
CDW operates through several business units and subsidiaries. The entity that employs you determines which entity files your Labor Condition Application with DOL and your I-129 with USCIS, so verify the legal employer name on your offer letter matches what HR intends to use for sponsorship.

Find Pre Sales Engineer at CDW JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CDW sponsor H-1B visas for Pre Sales Engineers?
Yes, CDW sponsors H-1B visas for Pre Sales Engineer roles. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation given its requirement for a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, information systems, or engineering. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, your employer needs to file a registration during the annual USCIS lottery window, so timing your offer accordingly matters.
Which visa types are commonly used for Pre Sales Engineer roles at CDW?
CDW supports several visa categories for this role. H-1B is the most common path for degree-holding candidates from countries without special treaty arrangements. Canadian and Mexican nationals working in technical sales or systems engineering roles often qualify for TN status. CDW also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students, and sponsors Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications for longer-term employees.
What qualifications and experience does CDW expect for Pre Sales Engineers?
CDW typically looks for a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline alongside hands-on experience with enterprise technology stacks, particularly networking, cloud, or security solutions. Vendor certifications from Cisco, Microsoft, or AWS carry real weight. Equally important is the ability to run discovery conversations with customers and translate technical requirements into solution proposals, since that client-facing component is central to the role.
How do I apply for Pre Sales Engineer jobs at CDW?
You can browse open Pre Sales Engineer positions directly on CDW's careers site or use Migrate Mate to filter CDW listings by visa sponsorship eligibility. Once you apply, CDW's process typically includes an initial recruiter screen, a technical assessment or solution design exercise, and a panel interview. If you need sponsorship, flag your visa status early in the recruiter conversation so the team can confirm the role is eligible before you advance.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take at CDW for this role?
From offer acceptance to work authorization, the timeline depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT and TN can move within weeks. H-1B sponsorship tied to the annual cap requires filing in April for an October 1 start date, so the gap between offer and start can run several months. CDW's legal team typically initiates the Labor Condition Application with DOL first, followed by the I-129 petition to USCIS, so factor that sequencing into your planning.
