Align your credentials with U.S. licensing expectations
Clayco's project engineering roles often reference EIT or PE progress as a differentiator. Have your foreign engineering degree evaluated by a NACES-member credential evaluator before you apply, so your transcript equivalency is documented and ready to share.
Target Clayco's regional offices strategically
Clayco operates project sites across multiple regions, and hiring activity concentrates where active builds are running. Research which markets have open Construction Project Engineer postings and tailor your outreach to those offices rather than applying through a single national portal.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Clayco's open roles
Clayco posts Construction Project Engineer positions across several job boards simultaneously, making it easy to miss sponsorship-eligible openings. Migrate Mate filters Clayco's listings specifically for visa-sponsored roles, so you can focus your applications where sponsorship is confirmed.
Clarify your OPT or CPT status early in conversations
If you're on F-1 OPT, Clayco can bring you on without immediate USCIS filing, but your STEM OPT extension window matters for timing an H-1B petition. Confirm your OPT end date and the April H-1B registration deadline before your first recruiter call so neither side is caught off guard.
Understand how Clayco structures the LCA filing
For H-1B sponsorship, your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying prevailing wage compliance before USCIS ever sees the petition. Ask your Clayco recruiter which office your role is assigned to, because the LCA wage level is tied to the specific worksite location, not headquarters.
Prepare a project portfolio that mirrors Clayco's project types
Clayco specializes in design-build delivery on commercial, mission-critical, and industrial projects. Document your direct experience with RFIs, submittals, and schedule management on comparable project types. Interviewers assess technical fit before sponsorship discussions begin, so your portfolio does the heavy lifting first.

Does Clayco sponsor H-1B visas for Construction Project Engineers?
Yes, Clayco sponsors H-1B visas for Construction Project Engineers. The process begins with a DOL-certified Labor Condition Application tied to the specific worksite, followed by an H-1B petition filed with USCIS. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, Clayco can employ you immediately while the H-1B petition is prepared for the next registration cycle in April.
How do I apply for Construction Project Engineer jobs at Clayco?
You can apply directly through Clayco's careers page or use Migrate Mate to browse Construction Project Engineer openings at Clayco that are filtered for visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect design-build project experience and include a portfolio of relevant submittals, RFIs, and schedule management examples that align with Clayco's project types.
Which visa types does Clayco commonly use for Construction Project Engineer roles?
Clayco sponsors across several visa categories for this role, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals with engineering degrees, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active programs, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa pathways for candidates pursuing permanent residence. The right category depends on your nationality, education level, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Clayco expect for Construction Project Engineer roles?
Clayco typically expects a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering from an accredited institution. Foreign degrees should be evaluated for U.S. equivalency through a NACES-member organization before applying. Practical experience with submittals, RFIs, schedule tracking, and familiarity with design-build delivery models strengthens your candidacy significantly. Progress toward EIT or PE licensure is viewed favorably for mid-level openings.
How do I time my application around Clayco's H-1B sponsorship process?
H-1B registrations open each April for an October 1 start date, so your offer and petition preparation need to be in place before that window. If you're on F-1 OPT with a STEM extension, you may have up to three years of authorized work time to complete this cycle. Starting your Clayco application at least six months before your current work authorization expires gives both sides enough runway to file correctly.
