Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Power Systems Engineer Jobs at Eaton Jobs
Align your credentials to Eaton's LCA filings
Before applying, search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for Eaton's Labor Condition Applications under power systems or electrical engineering roles. This shows you the exact job titles and wage levels Eaton has filed, so you can frame your resume to match their documented hiring patterns.
Target roles tied to grid and distribution projects
Eaton's Power Systems Engineer openings often cluster around power distribution, switchgear, and arc flash analysis. Roles tied to active infrastructure projects have stronger business justification for H-1B sponsorship, which strengthens your petition under the specialty occupation standard USCIS uses.
Get your foreign degree equivalency documented early
If your electrical engineering degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation completed before you start interviewing. Eaton's hiring managers and immigration counsel will need this to confirm your degree satisfies the bachelor's-in-a-specific-field requirement for H-1B specialty occupation classification.
Ask about cap-exempt filing paths during offer negotiations
If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a transfer to Eaton doesn't require the lottery. Raise this during the offer stage so Eaton's legal team can confirm portability, and clarify whether you'll need to wait for a new LCA certification before starting.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Power Systems Engineer roles at Eaton
Eaton posts across multiple job boards, making it hard to track which openings are actively sponsoring. Migrate Mate filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers, so you can identify current Eaton Power Systems Engineer postings without manually checking for sponsorship eligibility.
Plan around F-1 OPT and STEM extension timelines
Power systems roles at Eaton qualify under electrical or mechanical engineering SOC codes, both of which are STEM-designated. If you're on F-1 OPT, your STEM extension gives you up to 24 additional months, enough runway to cover an H-1B lottery cycle and USCIS adjudication before your status expires.

Does Eaton sponsor H-1B visas for Power Systems Engineers?
Yes. Eaton sponsors H-1B visas for Power Systems Engineers, and this function is among the roles the company files for consistently. Power Systems Engineer positions typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Your offer letter and job duties documentation will need to reflect that degree requirement clearly.
Which visa types does Eaton commonly use for Power Systems Engineer roles?
Eaton uses H-1B most commonly for Power Systems Engineers already in the U.S. or transferring from another sponsor. For Canadian and Mexican nationals, TN status under the USMCA is an option when the role aligns with engineer classifications. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for students and recent graduates, and Eaton also supports Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM-based pathways for longer-tenured employees.
How do I apply for Power Systems Engineer jobs at Eaton?
Applications go through Eaton's careers portal, where Power Systems Engineer roles are listed by location and business unit. You can also find sponsorship-confirmed openings through Migrate Mate, which filters Eaton's active postings by visa type. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect the specific technical focus of each posting, since Eaton's power systems roles vary between distribution, grid automation, and protection and control functions.
What qualifications does Eaton expect for Power Systems Engineer positions?
Most postings require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with coursework or hands-on experience in power systems analysis, load flow, short circuit studies, or protection coordination. Tools like ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or PSCAD frequently appear in job requirements. Senior roles typically expect experience with IEEE and NFPA 70E standards. A master's degree can substitute for some experience requirements and may also support EB-2 Green Card filings down the line.
How do I time my application around H-1B filing deadlines?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in early March each year for the October 1 start date. If you're selected in the lottery, Eaton's immigration counsel will file the full petition by the June deadline. That means your offer and Labor Condition Application need to be in place before March. If you're on F-1 OPT, you can start before October 1 under the cap-gap rule, which bridges your status while USCIS adjudicates your petition.
