Align your credentials to client-facing roles
Eliassen Group places engineers with end clients, so your resume needs to reflect the technical stack and industries those clients operate in. Frame your experience around deliverables, not just job titles, to clear both Eliassen's internal review and the end client's approval.
Verify your OPT timing before applying
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorization window covers the time needed for onboarding and any client placement process. A staffing firm's hiring cycle can run longer than a direct employer's, so starting the process with several months of OPT remaining reduces risk.
Ask specifically about the H-1B filing entity
At a staffing firm, the company filing your H-1B petition is Eliassen Group, not the end client. Confirm this clearly during the offer stage, since the petitioner's name affects your USCIS filing, your LCA wage level, and any future portability if you change roles.
Target engineering specializations with consistent client demand
Eliassen Group's engineering placements tend to cluster around technology-adjacent disciplines where client demand is steady. Roles in systems engineering, software development, and data engineering appear regularly. Positioning yourself in one of these areas increases the likelihood of an active placement opportunity.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open engineering roles
Staffing firm job boards update frequently and openings can close fast. Use Migrate Mate to filter Eliassen Group's engineering listings by visa type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than asking after the fact.
Understand the PERM timeline if you want permanent residence
If your goal is a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, the PERM labor certification process typically takes 12 to 18 months before USCIS adjudication even begins. Raise this with the recruiter during the offer process to understand whether Eliassen Group initiates PERM for staffing placements or only for internal hires.

Find Engineering at Eliassen Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Eliassen Group sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Eliassen Group sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles. As a staffing and consulting firm, Eliassen Group acts as the petitioner on H-1B filings, which means they file the Form I-129 with USCIS and are responsible for the Labor Condition Application with the DOL. The end client where you're placed is not the visa sponsor, so your employment relationship and legal work authorization run through Eliassen Group directly.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Eliassen Group?
You can apply through Eliassen Group's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters their engineering openings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify roles that match your authorization status before applying. When you reach out, be upfront about your visa situation early in the process. Staffing firms move quickly, and knowing your sponsorship needs from the first conversation prevents delays later in the placement cycle.
Which visa types does Eliassen Group commonly use for Engineering roles?
Eliassen Group supports several visa categories for engineering positions, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while H-1B is the primary long-term work visa for engineers who have completed OPT. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations under the USMCA.
What qualifications does Eliassen Group expect for sponsored Engineering positions?
Most sponsored engineering roles require a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field, since USCIS requires a specialty occupation with a specific degree requirement for H-1B eligibility. Eliassen Group places engineers with end clients who set the technical requirements, so hands-on experience with specific technologies or platforms often matters as much as your degree. Roles that accept any general degree field can create H-1B specialty occupation issues, so look for listings with defined degree requirements.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap and filing deadlines?
The H-1B cap registration window typically opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT and your authorization runs out before October, you may be eligible for a cap-gap extension that bridges the gap while your petition is pending. To give Eliassen Group enough time to prepare your filing, start conversations with their recruiting team well before the March registration window, ideally in December or January.
