What You Will Do:
The successful candidate will be willing and able to:
- Cover Supervisor during absence (weekly schedule, lunch schedule).
- Monitor vaccine units to make sure vaccines are stored in range by VFC requirements and regulations.
- Monitor and legibly record temperature twice daily.
- Monitor daily and cleaning maintenance with autoclave. Perform weekly and monthly autoclave cleaning maintenance and spore testing to send outside vendor.
- Perform monthly vaccine inventory count.
- Perform monthly emergency crash cart inventory.
- Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms and workstations between patients.
- Participate in daily provider huddles.
- Manage voicemails and return calls promptly.
- Complete assigned tasks in dashboards and workflows.
- Room patients: obtain vitals, medical history, allergies, and reconcile medications; document in Athena EHR and assist providers during exams/procedures.
- Administer injections, immunizations, and ordered diagnostic tests/referrals; document accurately in EHR.
- Perform standing orders and CLIA-waived tests (e.g., urine dip, pregnancy test, strep, HbA1c, glucose, hemoglobin, PT/INR, TB skin tests).
- Conduct diagnostic tests (e.g., EKG, spirometry, audiometry) and age-appropriate screenings as directed.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including immunizations, chart prep, and scanning patient records into EHR.
- Monitor and log refrigerator/freezer temperatures daily.
- Respond to urgent situations and initiate emergency measures as needed.
- Check out patients, schedule follow-ups, and coordinate with front desk on payments.
- Perform end-of-shift room and clinic closure duties.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety standards, universal precautions, and organizational policies.
- Support clinic operations by maintaining patient flow and communicating supply/equipment needs.
- Report safety hazards, incidents, and unusual occurrences promptly and complete required documentation.
- Sterilize equipment per required schedules and assist with audit preparation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Eligibility: Benefits are available to employees working 30+ hours per week, effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
Compensation Disclosure: $28.00 - $36.50
The compensation range listed reflects Elica’s good-faith estimate of the anticipated hiring range for this position in accordance with California pay transparency requirements. Final compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, and qualification.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or demonstrates a comparable combination of training and experience.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Ability to maintain records and files.
- Ability to operate a computer, use office equipment including a copier, office telephone, and appropriate clinic equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to exert physical effort maintaining and distributing files.
- Knowledge of basic clinic medical care and procedures.
- Culturally competent and responsive to diverse and special populations.
Additional Requirements
- Must have a current and valid California driver’s license and the ability to provide proof of personal auto insurance on the vehicle driven during working hours.
- If selected for an employment opportunity with Elica Health Centers, external hires must provide proof of immunizations (Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella & Tetanus), tuberculosis clearance, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination status prior to their scheduled start date. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderately loud; the incumbent must be able to focus in an environment with many distractions.
