Verify Your Credentials Match Georgia Requirements
Georgia requires Nursing Assistants to hold an active CNA certification on the state registry. Confirm your certification transfers or apply for reciprocity before you apply, since Emory's clinical hiring teams screen for state compliance before advancing candidates.
Target Emory's Hospital Units Directly
Emory operates multiple distinct facilities, including Emory University Hospital and Emory Saint Joseph's. Nursing Assistant openings cluster in specific units like med-surg and long-term care. Searching by facility rather than just job title surfaces roles that are actively backfilling and more likely to have sponsorship flexibility.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Sponsored Openings
Not every Emory Nursing Assistant posting will explicitly mention visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Emory roles where sponsorship has been confirmed, saving you from investing time in applications that will hit a wall at the offer stage.
Ask HR About TN and J-1 Eligibility Early
Canadian and Mexican nationals should ask Emory's HR team whether the specific Nursing Assistant role qualifies under TN status, since nursing occupations require careful job duty matching. J-1 sponsorship is also available at academic medical centers like Emory, so clarify which path fits your situation before accepting an offer.
Understand PERM Timing for EB-2 and EB-3 Paths
Emory sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for clinical staff, but PERM labor certification requires DOL to run a supervised recruitment process first. That process typically takes six to twelve months before USCIS sees your petition, so align your H-1B or OPT timeline accordingly.
Document Clinical Hours for OPT Cap-Gap Coverage
If you're on F-1 OPT and your program end date approaches before your H-1B takes effect on October 1, cap-gap coverage keeps you authorized. Keep signed employment verification from Emory on hand, since healthcare employers like university hospitals frequently face audits tied to E-Verify compliance during this window.

Find Nursing Assistant at Emory University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Emory University sponsor H-1B visas for Nursing Assistants?
Yes, Emory University has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas for clinical and healthcare support roles, including Nursing Assistants. Sponsorship decisions depend on the specific unit, the job duties, and whether the role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Reaching out to Emory's HR or international employee services team early in your application helps clarify eligibility for your specific position.
How do I apply for Nursing Assistant jobs at Emory University?
Applications go through Emory's official careers portal at careers.emory.edu, where you can filter by job category and location. To find roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed, browse Nursing Assistant listings on Migrate Mate, which surfaces Emory positions with known sponsorship track records. Having your Georgia CNA certification active before you apply moves your application forward faster in Emory's clinical screening process.
Which visa types does Emory University commonly use for Nursing Assistant roles?
Emory sponsors H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT for healthcare support roles. F-1 CPT is used for students in eligible nursing programs completing clinical placements. For longer-term pathways, Emory supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for clinical staff, which typically begins after you've established tenure in the role and your employer initiates the PERM process with the DOL.
What qualifications does Emory University expect for Nursing Assistant candidates?
Emory requires an active Georgia CNA certification for most Nursing Assistant roles. Prior acute care or hospital-setting experience is strongly preferred, particularly for positions in med-surg, ICU step-down, or specialty units. Basic Life Support certification is typically required before your start date. Some postings specify additional competency assessments that align with Joint Commission standards applicable to academic medical centers.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Nursing Assistant role at Emory University?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B standard processing through USCIS runs three to five months, with premium processing available to reduce that to fifteen business days. PERM for an EB-3 Green Card adds at least six to twelve months before USCIS adjudication begins. J-1 and TN timelines are shorter but require specific eligibility. Starting sponsorship conversations with Emory HR at the offer stage, not after acceptance, keeps the process on track.
