Align your credentials to U.S. licensing standards
Engineering Leader roles at a firm like Garver often require or prefer a Professional Engineer license. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., start the NCEES credentials evaluation early so licensing gaps don't stall an offer.
Target Garver's regional offices strategically
Garver operates across multiple states with varying project pipelines. Offices tied to active infrastructure programs often have faster hiring timelines, so research which regions align with your engineering discipline before applying.
Clarify visa type eligibility before your first interview
Garver sponsors multiple visa categories for Engineering Leaders, including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Knowing which category fits your nationality and degree level lets you frame the sponsorship conversation confidently, not defensively, with the hiring team.
Build your application around PERM-ready documentation
If your goal is permanent residence through an EB-2 or EB-3, start organizing education records, transcripts, and prior employment letters now. PERM requires detailed proof of qualifications, and gaps discovered late can delay the process by months.
Find Engineering Leader openings using Migrate Mate
Roles requiring sponsorship aren't always flagged clearly on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter Garver's Engineering Leader openings by visa type, so you're only spending time on positions where sponsorship is genuinely available for your situation.
Confirm LCA wage levels match your experience tier
When Garver files your H-1B, the Department of Labor's Labor Condition Application ties your salary to a prevailing wage level. Engineering Leaders at a senior or principal level typically map to Level III or IV, so verify the offered compensation reflects that before signing.

Find Engineering Leader at Garver JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Leaders?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering Leader roles. As an established engineering consulting firm, Garver has experience navigating the H-1B process for technical hires. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, Garver can file an H-1B transfer, which lets you start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for full approval.
How do I apply for Engineering Leader jobs at Garver?
You can apply directly through Garver's careers portal or browse their open Engineering Leader positions on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles where visa sponsorship is available. Before applying, confirm your engineering discipline matches the project focus of the office you're targeting, since Garver's needs vary significantly by region and service line.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Engineering Leader roles?
Garver sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization path for Engineering Leaders, along with TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for early-career candidates transitioning from U.S. programs, and Garver also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for longer-term hires pursuing permanent residence.
What qualifications does Garver expect for Engineering Leader positions?
Garver typically looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, substantial project management experience, and ideally a Professional Engineer license or active pursuit of one. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree must directly support a specialty occupation determination, so a directly related field of study matters more than years of experience alone.
How do I think about timing if I need H-1B sponsorship at Garver?
The H-1B cap lottery opens each March for an October 1 start date, meaning there can be a six-month or longer gap between an offer and your authorized start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration and any STEM extension eligibility with USCIS so your work authorization bridges that gap without interruption. Plan conversations with Garver's HR team around these federal deadlines early in the process.
