Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Software Engineer Jobs at Garver Jobs
Align your portfolio with civil infrastructure software
Garver's software work supports engineering consulting projects, not SaaS products. Highlight experience with GIS platforms, CAD integrations, or data pipelines for infrastructure clients before you apply. Generic full-stack portfolios get filtered out quickly.
Search Garver's open Software Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Garver posts Software Engineer positions across multiple office locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're targeting openings with an active immigration pathway rather than guessing from a generic job board.
Clarify cap-subject versus cap-exempt status early
If you need an H-1B and haven't been selected in the lottery, ask Garver's recruiter whether any of their office locations are affiliated with qualifying nonprofits or research entities. Cap-exempt placements are rare but do exist in consulting structures.
Prepare your credential evaluation before interviews start
Garver's engineering roles typically require a Bachelor's degree in a directly related field. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a NACES-member evaluation completed in advance. Waiting until after an offer delays LCA filing with DOL and pushes your start date.
Understand how TN status works for Canadian and Mexican engineers
Software engineers from Canada or Mexico may qualify for TN status under the USMCA, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. The role must meet the Computer Systems Analyst or Engineer occupation criteria as defined by DOL, so confirm your job description matches before relying on this path.

Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. As an engineering and consulting firm, Garver has an established process for supporting work visa filings through USCIS. If you're subject to the H-1B cap and lottery, timing your application around Garver's hiring cycle matters, since the lottery registration window opens each March for an October 1 start date.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Software Engineer roles?
Garver supports several visa categories for Software Engineers, including H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active programs, J-1 for qualifying exchange visitors, and permanent residency pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM labor certification. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and how much runway you currently have on your existing status.
What qualifications does Garver expect for Software Engineer positions?
Garver's Software Engineer roles typically require a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. Because Garver operates in the engineering consulting space, experience with GIS systems, infrastructure data tools, or enterprise platforms used in civil or environmental projects strengthens your candidacy significantly over general software development experience alone.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Garver?
You can find and apply for Software Engineer positions at Garver through Migrate Mate, which surfaces Garver's open roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. Garver hires across multiple U.S. office locations, so reviewing which offices have active Software Engineer openings before applying helps you target the right team and avoid applying to postings already filled internally.
How do I time my application around the H-1B process at Garver?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, aim to have an offer finalized by February so Garver's legal team can prepare your USCIS registration for the March lottery window. If you're not selected, Garver may be able to extend your stay on OPT cap-gap coverage while you remain eligible. Starting conversations with recruiters in the fall gives you the most preparation time.
