Frame your credentials around client-facing consulting
Garver's Business Development roles sit at the intersection of engineering services and client relationship management. Tailor your resume to show quantifiable pipeline growth, proposal leadership, or account expansion in a technical consulting context before you apply.
Confirm your visa category matches the role
Garver sponsors multiple visa types, including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Identify which category fits your nationality and degree field before outreach. TN is faster for Canadians and Mexicans in qualifying professional categories, which can matter if your OPT timeline is tight.
Target Garver's regional office hiring patterns
Garver operates across multiple U.S. regions with distinct growth priorities. Research which offices are actively expanding Business Development headcount and focus applications there. A role tied to an office with active infrastructure contracts is more likely to move quickly through the hiring process.
Raise sponsorship directly in the recruiter conversation
Professional services firms assess sponsorship feasibility early. Ask the recruiter whether the specific Business Development role supports H-1B or PERM sponsorship. Vague answers about general company policy are less useful than a clear confirmation tied to the actual position you're pursuing.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Garver's open roles
Business Development openings at Garver move quickly and aren't always visible through general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track Garver's visa-sponsoring positions so you're applying to confirmed sponsorship-eligible roles rather than guessing from generic listings.
Understand the LCA filing step before your offer
Before Garver can file your H-1B petition with USCIS, the company must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing rate for your role and location. Delays here are common, so confirm your start date accounts for this step.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Garver has an established record of H-1B visa sponsorship for Business Development roles. The process requires your employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submit an H-1B petition to USCIS. If you're subject to the annual cap, timing around the April lottery window will affect your start date, so plan accordingly.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Business Development roles?
Garver sponsors H-1B, EB-2, EB-3, TN visa, J-1 visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT for eligible candidates. For Business Development roles, H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant path for degree-holding professionals. TN visa is an efficient option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying categories. F-1 OPT provides a bridge for recent graduates already authorized to work while sponsorship is arranged.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Garver?
Search Garver's careers page directly and filter for Business Development openings by region. Migrate Mate is a reliable way to browse Garver's visa-sponsoring roles in one place, letting you confirm sponsorship eligibility before you apply. Tailor your application to demonstrate client development experience in an engineering or professional services context, since that background carries the most weight for these positions.
What qualifications does Garver expect for Business Development candidates needing sponsorship?
Garver typically looks for a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, business, or a related discipline, alongside demonstrated experience in client acquisition, proposal development, or account management within consulting or technical services. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, so a directly related degree is essential, not just professional experience alone.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Garver to sponsor my visa?
If you need H-1B sponsorship and are subject to the cap, USCIS only accepts petitions in April for an October 1 start date. That means you need an offer finalized no later than March, allowing time for LCA certification with the DOL beforehand. TN and F-1 OPT extensions move faster and have no cap constraints, making them practical bridging options while a longer-term petition is filed.
