Align your credentials to U.S. licensing standards
Garver's Environmental roles often expect progress toward a Professional Engineer license or EIT certification. Before applying, verify your foreign degree maps to a U.S.-equivalent qualification, since USCIS specialty occupation reviews scrutinize this for environmental science and engineering petitions.
Target Garver's water and infrastructure project pipeline
Garver consistently staffs Environmental professionals on water resources, wastewater, and stormwater projects. Framing your resume around those specific disciplines, rather than general environmental consulting, aligns your application with the roles they're actively filling and strengthens your H-1B specialty occupation argument.
Clarify OPT or CPT eligibility before your first interview
If you're on F-1 status, confirm your program CIP code supports OPT authorization for environmental engineering or science work. Garver has sponsored F-1 OPT and CPT candidates, but your university's DSO must authorize the work before any offer paperwork can proceed.
Ask about PERM timing early in offer negotiations
Green Card sponsorship through PERM is a multi-year process that DOL requires employers to initiate separately from your H-1B. If long-term U.S. residency matters to you, raise it during the offer stage so both sides understand the timeline and responsibilities before you sign.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Garver's active Environmental openings
Garver posts Environmental roles across multiple states and project types, making it easy to miss relevant openings. Use Migrate Mate to filter Garver's listings by role type and sponsorship eligibility so you're applying to positions that match both your technical background and your visa situation.
Prepare for TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Environmental engineers and scientists can qualify for TN status under USMCA, which requires a qualifying degree and a specific U.S. job offer letter. TN doesn't require USCIS pre-approval for Canadians, so your start date can move significantly faster than an H-1B filing timeline allows.

Find Environmental at Garver JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Environmentals?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Environmental roles. The company has filed H-1B petitions for engineering and environmental science positions, and the roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards given the degree requirements involved. If you're currently on H-1B status with another employer, Garver can file an H-1B transfer, letting you start work once USCIS receives the petition.
How do I apply for Environmental jobs at Garver?
Apply directly through Garver's careers portal or use Migrate Mate to browse their current Environmental openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. Tailor your application to the specific project discipline, whether water resources, environmental compliance, or site assessment, since Garver's Environmental team covers several distinct practice areas with different technical expectations.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Environmental roles?
Garver sponsors H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Environmental positions, and has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-tenured employees. The right visa depends on your citizenship, degree field, and career stage. Canadian and Mexican nationals often pursue TN status first given the faster processing compared to H-1B cap timelines.
What qualifications does Garver expect for Environmental roles?
Most Environmental positions at Garver require a bachelor's or master's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a related environmental science discipline. Practical experience with permitting, regulatory compliance, or infrastructure project delivery is valued. Progress toward a Professional Engineer license strengthens your application for mid-level and senior roles, and is often expected for project-lead positions.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Environmental hire at Garver?
Timelines vary by visa type. TN status for Canadian citizens can be processed at the border in a single day. H-1B standard processing takes three to five months after filing, while premium processing through USCIS reduces that to 15 business days. Green Card sponsorship via PERM involves DOL labor market testing and typically runs two to four years from initiation to approval.
