Align your credentials to Google's compliance scope
Google's Compliance function covers export controls, data privacy, and antitrust. Certifications like CIPP, CCEP, or CAMS signal directly relevant expertise. Tailor your resume to show experience in technology or platform-specific regulatory environments, not just general compliance work.
Target roles where E-3 or H-1B1 applies
Google sponsors E-3 visas for Australian citizens and H-1B1 for Singaporean and Chilean nationals. These paths skip the H-1B lottery entirely. Search for Compliance postings at Google that align with your nationality's visa type to move faster through the process.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Compliance roles at Google
Google posts Compliance openings across multiple teams and locations, but not all listings flag visa sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate filters Google's current openings by sponsorship eligibility, so you're targeting positions that are actually accessible to visa-dependent candidates.
Prepare for Google's structured interview process early
Google uses a multi-round interview format for Compliance roles, often including a legal or regulatory scenario exercise. Build written work samples that demonstrate your ability to analyze technology-specific compliance risk before you reach the offer stage, not after.
Understand when your employer files the LCA with DOL
Before USCIS can process your H-1B petition, Google must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor certifying your offered wage meets prevailing levels. The LCA must be certified before petition submission, so factor that lead time into your start date negotiations.
Account for premium processing if you're changing status
If you're already in the U.S. on a different visa and need to change status after accepting a Google offer, standard USCIS processing can take several months. Confirm with Google's immigration team upfront whether premium processing is available for your petition type.

Find Compliance at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Compliance roles?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Compliance positions. Google works with experienced immigration counsel to file petitions for qualifying roles that meet USCIS specialty occupation standards. Compliance roles requiring a degree in law, finance, or a related field generally satisfy that threshold. H-1B sponsorship is subject to the annual cap and lottery, except for cap-exempt situations.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for Compliance roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Compliance professionals. The H-1B applies broadly, while the H-1B1 is reserved for Singaporean and Chilean nationals and the E-3 for Australian citizens. Both the H-1B1 and E-3 bypass the lottery, making them faster paths if you qualify by nationality.
How do I apply for Compliance jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Compliance roles are listed under Legal, Compliance, or Trust and Safety depending on the team. You can also browse Google's currently open Compliance positions filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles accessible to candidates who need sponsorship.
What qualifications does Google expect for Compliance roles?
Most Compliance roles at Google require a bachelor's degree at minimum, with many senior positions expecting a JD, advanced degree, or specialized certification such as CIPP or CCEP. Hands-on experience with technology sector regulations, including data privacy, export controls, or platform compliance, carries significant weight. Google also looks for candidates who can translate complex regulatory requirements into operational processes.
How do I think about timing when pursuing a Google Compliance role on a visa?
If you need an H-1B, Google must file during the April lottery window for an October 1 start date. H-1B1 and E-3 petitions have no lottery and can be filed year-round, with USCIS typically adjudicating within a few months under standard processing. Build in time for the DOL Labor Condition Application certification, which must complete before any H-1B or E-3 petition is submitted.
