Frame your portfolio around Google-scale systems
Google evaluates Data Science Manager candidates on experience leading teams that operate on massive datasets and distributed infrastructure. Before applying, document projects where you've managed ML pipelines or model deployments at scale, not just individual contributor work.
Target roles in Google's core product areas
Google's Data Science Manager openings cluster heavily in Search, Ads, Cloud, and YouTube. Applying to teams aligned with your domain expertise increases fit signals and improves your chances of moving past the initial recruiter screen into technical rounds.
Request premium processing before your start date
Google's recruiting team can request USCIS premium processing on your I-129 petition, reducing adjudication to 15 business days. Raise this during offer negotiation if your start date is tight or you're transitioning from another employer's visa.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Google's open roles by visa type
Finding Google postings that explicitly support your visa category takes time when searching general job boards. Migrate Mate lets you filter Data Science Manager openings at Google by the visa types the company sponsors, so you apply to roles matched to your situation.

Find Data Science Manager at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Data Science Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Data Science Manager roles. Google participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery each March for candidates who need new H-1B status starting October 1. If you're currently on OPT or another employer's H-1B, Google can also file an H-1B transfer, which is not subject to the cap and can begin at any point in the year.
How do I apply for Data Science Manager jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Search for 'Data Science Manager' and filter by location. Google's process for this level typically includes a recruiter screen, a technical phone interview covering statistics and ML concepts, and a full loop with case studies and people management scenarios. Prepare for behavioral questions that probe how you've developed individual contributors and influenced product direction with data.
Which visa types does Google use for Data Science Manager roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Data Science Manager positions. H-1B is the most common path for candidates from most countries. H-1B1 is available to citizens of Chile and Singapore. E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and offers a streamlined path without a lottery. The right visa depends on your nationality, current status, and proposed start date.
What qualifications does Google expect for Data Science Manager roles?
Google's Data Science Manager roles typically require a graduate degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, though substantial industry experience in lieu of a graduate degree is sometimes accepted. Beyond credentials, Google prioritizes demonstrated experience managing data science teams, translating ambiguous business problems into analytical frameworks, and influencing product decisions at scale across cross-functional stakeholders.
How do I find Data Science Manager openings at Google that match my visa situation?
General job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type, which makes it hard to know which Google postings align with your H-1B, E-3, or H-1B1 eligibility. Migrate Mate aggregates Data Science Manager roles at Google and lets you filter by the visa categories the company sponsors, so you can focus your applications on positions where your work authorization is a known fit.
