Frame your portfolio around marketplace problems
DoorDash's data science work centers on real-time logistics, dynamic pricing, and demand forecasting. Prepare case studies that show you've led teams solving similar scaled marketplace or platform problems, not just standalone analytical projects.
Target roles that align with OFLC specialty occupation criteria
For H-1B sponsorship, your Data Science Manager title must qualify as a specialty occupation under DOL standards. Roles with clear requirements for a degree in statistics, computer science, or a quantitative field carry the strongest petitions.
Negotiate your start date around I-129 timelines
If you need a new H-1B petition rather than a transfer, standard USCIS processing can take several months. Align your offer negotiation so your proposed start date realistically accommodates filing and adjudication, including whether premium processing is available.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Data Science Manager roles at DoorDash
Filtering for sponsorship-confirmed roles saves time you'd otherwise spend cold-emailing recruiters. Migrate Mate lets you browse verified Data Science Manager openings at DoorDash alongside sponsorship history, so you're applying with full context.
Understand how OPT cap-gap protection affects your candidacy
If you're on F-1 OPT and your H-1B is selected in the lottery, USCIS cap-gap rules extend your work authorization through September 30 of the fiscal year. Communicate this clearly to DoorDash's recruiting team so your authorization status is never misread as a gap.

Find Data Science Manager at DoorDash JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DoorDash sponsor H-1B visas for Data Science Managers?
Yes, DoorDash sponsors H-1B visas for Data Science Manager roles. As a large technology company operating under E-Verify requirements, DoorDash has a structured process for filing H-1B petitions. For new H-1B holders, sponsorship is subject to the annual USCIS lottery, so timing your application cycle correctly matters. Transfers from an existing H-1B are not lottery-dependent and can move faster.
How do I apply for Data Science Manager jobs at DoorDash?
You can apply directly through DoorDash's careers site or browse verified openings on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles confirmed for visa sponsorship. Data Science Manager positions at DoorDash typically move through a recruiter screen, a technical case or take-home, and multiple panel interviews covering statistical modeling, team leadership, and product sense. Preparing a clear narrative around team-scaled impact helps at every stage.
Which visa types does DoorDash commonly use for Data Science Manager roles?
DoorDash sponsors a range of visa categories for this function, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and how long you've been in the U.S.
What qualifications does DoorDash look for in a Data Science Manager?
DoorDash typically expects a graduate degree in statistics, machine learning, economics, or a related quantitative field, combined with experience managing data science teams in a high-growth technology environment. Strong candidates demonstrate fluency in experimentation frameworks, causal inference, and cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering. For visa purposes, the degree-to-role alignment also supports the specialty occupation requirement in H-1B petitions.
How do I plan my timeline if DoorDash is sponsoring my H-1B?
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. If your registration is selected, DoorDash files the full petition with USCIS. Standard processing takes several months, but premium processing speeds adjudication to roughly 15 business days. If you're transferring from an existing H-1B, you can start as soon as USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for a new fiscal year.
