About the Team
The Outside Sales team has been the face of DoorDash to our merchant partners since our founding in 2013. We build deep, hyper-local relationships with the most sought-after SMB restaurants in each region. By sourcing and qualifying new merchants, the Sales Development team drives the top of the funnel for Outside Sales and fuels the growth of partnerships that strengthen restaurant operations, accelerate consumer demand, and improve DoorDash's bottom line.
About the Role
We're looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) who is energized by high-volume outreach, enjoys uncovering opportunities through conversation, and wants to build a career in sales. In this role, you will own the early stages of the sales process—prospecting, identifying decision makers, qualifying interest, and securing meetings for our field sellers across your assigned region.
You'll engage SMB restaurant owners through high-volume outreach, using thoughtful messaging and targeted tactics to spark interest and qualify opportunities. You'll manage and track prospects in Salesforce and Google tools to ensure a smooth handoff to the appropriate field seller, with occasional field exposure to deepen your understanding of the full sales cycle.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced conversations, brings discipline and creativity to their outreach, and is eager to build the foundation for a future full-cycle career within DoorDash's Sales organization.
We expect this role to be flexible and will travel as needed for in-person collaboration through trainings, offsites, team-building events, and other business related necessity.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Identify, contact, and qualify the most important merchants and their decision makers in your market
- Conduct high-volume cold calling (65+ dials per day) and emailing to generate interest and secure qualified meetings
- Partner with field sellers to secure meetings that move the business forward
- Refine sales messaging, prospecting, qualifying, and closing techniques
- Build expertise in lead generation, consultative discovery, and storytelling
- Gain exposure to both inside and outside sales motions to broaden your skill set
We're excited about you because you have…
- 1+ years experience in high-volume outbound cold calling
- A track record of exceeding daily, weekly, or monthly goals
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proactivity in problem solving and comfort working autonomously
- Creative outreach tactics that open doors and spark conversation
- A talent for motivating potential partners to recognize the value DoorDash can bring to their business
- Experience navigating sales tools and internal tools (Salesforce, Google Apps)
- A willingness to learn quickly, adapt to change, and absorb feedback
- Mandarin-speaking candidates are strongly preferred for this role; however, we are still excited to consider highly qualified candidates who do not speak Mandarin.
Applications for this position are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Align your SDM experience to DoorDash's merchant growth motion
DoorDash SDM roles focus heavily on pipeline generation for restaurant and retail merchant acquisition. Frame your resume around outbound prospecting metrics, team ramp speed, and quota attainment in a high-velocity sales environment rather than enterprise account management.
Confirm your visa category before final negotiations
DoorDash sponsors several nonimmigrant categories for this role. Know whether your situation requires H-1B, E-3, TN, or H-1B1 visa before the offer stage so the recruiter can route your file to the right internal immigration team without delays.
Request the LCA filing timeline at offer acceptance
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS can process your petition. Ask the DoorDash immigration contact when LCA filing will begin so you can plan your start date around that certification window.
Use F-1 OPT strategically to get inside first
If you're on F-1 OPT, starting in the SDM role before your H-1B petition is filed gives DoorDash's team direct evidence of your performance. That internal track record strengthens the petition and reduces friction at the cap-subject H-1B lottery stage.
Target DoorDash SDM openings through Migrate Mate
Filter verified Sales Development Manager listings at DoorDash by visa type on Migrate Mate so you only pursue roles where your specific sponsorship category is already supported, cutting wasted applications and recruiter conversations early in the process.
Prepare credential documentation before recruiter screening
Sales Development Manager roles at technology companies typically require demonstrated degree qualifications for specialty occupation classification. Have your transcripts, degree equivalency evaluation if your credential is from outside the U.S., and employment verification letters ready before your first USCIS-required documentation request.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does DoorDash sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Development Managers?
Yes, DoorDash sponsors H-1B visas for Sales Development Manager roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file both cap-subject petitions for new hires and cap-exempt transfers where applicable. If you're already on H-1B with another employer, a transfer to DoorDash can often be filed concurrently with your start date under portability rules.
Which visa types does DoorDash commonly sponsor for Sales Development Manager roles?
DoorDash supports a range of visa categories for this function, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term sponsorship.
How do I apply for Sales Development Manager jobs at DoorDash?
Search for open Sales Development Manager positions on Migrate Mate, which aggregates verified DoorDash listings filtered by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm your category is supported before applying. Apply directly through DoorDash's careers site, tailoring your application to highlight outbound pipeline leadership, team coaching experience, and performance against quota in a high-growth sales environment.
What qualifications does DoorDash expect for a Sales Development Manager position?
DoorDash typically looks for prior experience managing or mentoring SDR and BDR teams, a track record of building outbound prospecting programs, and familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce. A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is standard. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field should align with the role's core responsibilities to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
How do I plan my timeline when DoorDash is sponsoring my H-1B petition?
Cap-subject H-1B petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, and USCIS registration opens each March. If you miss the lottery, DoorDash may be able to bridge your status through OPT extension or a cap-exempt filing depending on your situation. Confirm the internal filing timeline with DoorDash's HR team immediately after offer acceptance to avoid gaps in work authorization.
