You will define the strategic vision for critical AI initiatives, leveraging various technologies to ensure they align with business objectives and meet high standards for scalability, security, and performance. This is not a theoretical or advisory role rather it’s a role that will build-and-deploy with direct visibility to senior leadership and a mandate to drive measurable business impact.
This position is a seasoned, highly technical, individual contributor role reporting to the VP, Data Engineering & AI Architecture.
Responsibilities:

- Translate complex business workflows into AI-driven solutions with clear, measurable ROI
Design and Build AI Solutions End-to-End
- Architect and develop AI agents, multi-agent systems, and LLM-powered workflows
- Build and deploy scalable, production-grade automation pipelines integrated with enterprise systems and data platforms
- Select and integrate the right tools, frameworks, and infrastructure to support long-term scalability
Own Delivery from Concept to Impact
- Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on solutions
- Productionize with robust, scalable architecture and cloud-based infrastructure
- Drive adoption and ensure solutions deliver measurable outcomes (efficiency, speed, quality)
Establish the AI Foundation for Scale
- Define and implement AI architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks
- Build scalable data and platform foundations to support AI/ML workloads
- Ensure responsible AI practices, data quality, and compliance are embedded from the start
Lead, Influence, and Elevate the Organization
- Serve as the technical lead across cross-functional initiatives, translating business needs into actionable AI solutions
- Present architectural strategies and progress to executive leadership
- Mentor team members and elevate AI literacy across the organization
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8-10 years of experience in data and/or systems engineering, preferably 3-5 years of experience with machine learning, or AI-driven data platforms
- Related bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Mathematics, etc.)
- Proficiency in modern AI/ML frameworks and tools (specifically, Glean, Claude, Co-pilot Enterprise, etc.)
- Strong system design and architecture capabilities
- Strong understanding of NLP (natural language processing), conversational AI, and their applications
- Proven track record of building and deploying AI systems into production (not just advising or prototyping)
- Ability to operate as both a hands-on builder and a strategic technical partner to business leaders
- Strong bias for action – moves quickly from idea to execution and prioritize impact over perfection
- Analytical mindset with comfort guiding stakeholders through ambiguity
- Executive-level verbal/written communication skills
- Strong communication skills to bridge technical and business stakeholders
We seek candidates who not only demonstrate curiosity and adaptability in emerging technologies but have also successfully implemented and utilized AI tools to enhance their work, improve processes, or deliver measurable results. Target roles in engineering and technology
Blackhawk Network's Green Card sponsorships concentrate heavily in software engineering, data, and product development. Applying to technical roles puts you in the strongest position to be considered for employer-sponsored permanent residence at this company.
Confirm sponsorship intent early in interviews
Ask directly whether the specific role you're interviewing for has a Green Card sponsorship track. At Blackhawk Network, sponsorship decisions are often role-specific and tied to whether the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under the EB-2 or EB-3 category.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Blackhawk Network Green Card filings typically follow the PERM route, requiring the company to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Familiarize yourself with this process so you can have an informed conversation with the HR and legal teams early.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring roles
Not every Blackhawk Network job posting will mention Green Card sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your applications on roles most likely to lead to permanent residence.
Build tenure before initiating Green Card discussions
Companies in Banking and Financial Services, including Blackhawk Network, typically begin the Green Card process after an employee demonstrates long-term value. Securing an offer and establishing yourself in the role first strengthens your case for sponsorship.
Align your credentials with EB-2 or EB-3 eligibility
Blackhawk Network sponsors through both EB-2 and EB-3 categories. If you hold an advanced degree or can demonstrate exceptional expertise in financial technology or software development, positioning yourself for EB-2 may shorten your overall wait time significantly.
Blackhawk Network Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Blackhawk Network sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Blackhawk Network sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Sponsorship is primarily available for roles in technical and specialized functions within the company's Banking and Financial Services operations. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every position, so it is worth confirming directly with the hiring team during the interview process.
Which roles and departments at Blackhawk Network are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Blackhawk Network is most common in software engineering, data engineering, product management, and technology infrastructure roles. These positions typically satisfy the specialty occupation requirements needed for PERM labor certification under the EB-2 or EB-3 category. Finance and compliance roles may also qualify depending on the seniority and technical nature of the work.
How does the Green Card application process work at Blackhawk Network?
Blackhawk Network typically initiates Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, where the company files with the Department of Labor to confirm no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. Once PERM is certified, Blackhawk Network files an immigrant petition with USCIS on your behalf. The process involves close coordination between you, the HR team, and the company's immigration counsel.
How long does the Green Card process take at Blackhawk Network?
The timeline depends significantly on your country of birth and the visa category under which you qualify. PERM labor certification alone can take several months, and USCIS processing adds additional time after that. Applicants born in India or China often face extended waits due to visa backlogs. Starting the process as early as possible in your employment is strongly advisable.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Blackhawk Network?
Standard job boards rarely indicate whether a specific role includes Green Card sponsorship. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this use case, letting you find Blackhawk Network job openings filtered by verified sponsorship history. This helps you focus on roles where sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than applying broadly and raising the question late in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Blackhawk Network?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
