Target technical and corporate functions
Delta's Green Card sponsorship tends to concentrate in engineering, IT, finance, and operations roles rather than frontline positions. Focusing your application on these departments significantly improves your chances of landing a role with a clear path to permanent residency.
Confirm sponsorship willingness early in interviews
Airlines have complex hiring pipelines. Ask directly during early conversations whether the specific role supports Green Card sponsorship, not just work visa sponsorship. Getting clarity upfront saves time and avoids late-stage surprises in the process.
Understand the PERM labor certification timeline
Green Card sponsorship at large employers like Delta typically starts with PERM labor certification, which can take a year or more before USCIS even reviews the petition. Starting the conversation with your manager early in your tenure helps you plan realistically.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship roles
Not every Delta job listing will mention Green Card sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you identify which Delta roles and departments have a track record of supporting permanent residency.
Build tenure before initiating the process
Delta, like most major airlines, typically initiates Green Card sponsorship for employees who have demonstrated value over time. Establishing a strong internal track record in your role before requesting sponsorship makes the conversation with HR significantly more productive.
Know which Green Card category applies to your background
Delta sponsors through both EB-2 and EB-3 categories depending on the role's degree requirements. Understanding which category fits your qualifications helps you set realistic expectations about priority date timelines, especially if you're from a high-demand country of birth.
Delta Air Lines Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Delta Air Lines sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Delta Air Lines sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Sponsorship is most common in technical, IT, engineering, finance, and corporate operations roles. Frontline and hourly positions are rarely sponsored. Delta typically initiates the process for employees already working on a nonimmigrant visa who have demonstrated strong performance in their role.
Which roles and departments at Delta Air Lines are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Delta concentrates in technology, software engineering, finance, analytics, and airport operations management. These are areas where Delta competes for specialized talent and has a pattern of supporting permanent residency. Cabin crew, gate agents, and other frontline roles are generally not sponsored for Green Cards.
How do I start the Green Card process at Delta Air Lines?
The process typically begins with a conversation with your manager and HR business partner once you're established in your role. Delta works with outside immigration counsel to file the PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Your involvement early on is mainly documentation and coordination.
How long does the Green Card process take at Delta Air Lines?
The timeline depends on your visa category and country of birth. For most applicants, PERM labor certification alone takes over a year. After I-140 approval, applicants born in countries with high demand, such as India or China, may face extended waits due to visa backlogs. Planning several years ahead is realistic for most sponsored employees at Delta.
How do I find Green Card sponsorship jobs at Delta Air Lines?
Delta's careers site lists open roles, but sponsorship eligibility isn't always noted in job descriptions. Migrate Mate tracks verified Green Card sponsors and surfaces Delta roles with a real sponsorship history, so you can focus your applications on positions where permanent residency support is genuinely on the table rather than guessing from a job listing.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Delta Air Lines?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
