Align your credentials with PERM requirements early
PERM labor certification requires your education and experience to match the job description exactly as filed. Review your foreign degree equivalency and get a credential evaluation before applying, since mismatches between your resume and the PERM filing can delay or derail the process.
Target roles with specialized technical depth
McCarthy's Green Card sponsorships cluster around roles requiring advanced specialization, such as structural engineers, MEP coordinators, and project controls managers. Generalist construction roles face harder PERM recruitment requirements, so positioning yourself in a demonstrably specialized niche strengthens your sponsorship case considerably.
Understand which EB pathway fits your background
EB-3 covers most professional and skilled construction roles filed through PERM. EB-2 applies if your role requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability. Clarify with your hiring manager early which category McCarthy intends to file under, since each has different documentation and processing timelines through USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate to verify McCarthy's sponsorship history
Before investing time in McCarthy's application process, search their DOL Labor Condition Application filing history on Migrate Mate to confirm active sponsorship patterns by role type and location. This tells you which job families are actively sponsored and where sponsorship is concentrated geographically across their project sites.
Negotiate Green Card commitment during the offer stage
Get written confirmation of Green Card sponsorship before accepting an offer, not after. Ask specifically whether the company will initiate PERM within your first year and who internally manages the filing. McCarthy's HR and legal teams handle this process, so knowing the internal owner matters for managing your timeline.
Account for prevailing wage requirements in salary discussions
PERM and EB filings require McCarthy to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search and O*NET to identify the correct wage level for your role before salary negotiations, so your offered compensation doesn't create compliance issues that stall your Green Card filing.
McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, McCarthy Building Companies sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Sponsorship is concentrated in technical and professional roles in construction management, engineering, and project delivery. The company files through the PERM labor certification process under EB-2 and EB-3 categories, with USCIS adjudicating the underlying immigrant petition after DOL certification is complete.
Which roles at McCarthy Building Companies typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at McCarthy tends to focus on roles requiring specialized technical qualifications, including structural and civil engineers, MEP specialists, project controls managers, and senior project managers. Roles tied to long-term project delivery rather than short-term contract work are more likely to be sponsored, since the multi-year Green Card timeline aligns better with permanent employment.
How do I start the Green Card process at McCarthy Building Companies?
Raise Green Card sponsorship during your offer negotiation or with your manager once employed. McCarthy's HR team coordinates with outside immigration counsel to initiate PERM labor certification through DOL. You'll need to provide documentation of your qualifications, and the company must complete a formal recruitment process before filing. Starting the conversation early matters because the overall timeline is measured in years.
How long does the Green Card process take at McCarthy Building Companies?
The full Green Card process typically takes several years from PERM initiation to receiving permanent residency. PERM labor certification through DOL takes roughly six to twelve months under normal processing. After DOL certifies the application, USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition, and priority date waiting times vary significantly depending on your country of birth and the EB category filed.
How do I find Green Card jobs at McCarthy Building Companies?
Search McCarthy Building Companies on Migrate Mate to see roles where Green Card sponsorship has been filed historically by job title and location. This helps you target open positions in departments with active sponsorship patterns rather than applying broadly and asking about sponsorship after the fact, which is a less effective approach for roles at large construction firms like McCarthy.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
