Align your degree to Timken's EB pathways
Timken's manufacturing and engineering roles typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 depending on degree level and job complexity. A role requiring a bachelor's in mechanical or materials engineering usually lands in EB-2, while technician and skilled production roles route through EB-3 and PERM labor certification.
Document specialized manufacturing experience early
PERM requires your employer to prove no qualified U.S. worker is available for your specific role. Quantify your experience with precision manufacturing processes, bearings technology, or metallurgical quality systems before applying so your credentials clearly differentiate you from a generic engineering applicant.
Target Timken's engineering and R&D teams
Green Card sponsorship at Timken concentrates in roles tied to product development, materials science, and industrial engineering. Applying to operations or corporate support functions is less likely to result in a sponsorship conversation than pursuing openings in those technical and product-focused departments.
Verify prevailing wage before salary negotiations
Timken must certify through DOL that your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for your role and location. Use OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage range for your SOC code before your offer discussion so you negotiate from an informed position.
Search Migrate Mate for Timken Green Card openings
Filter for Timken roles on Migrate Mate to see which positions carry active Green Card sponsorship history. That data comes from DOL Labor Condition Application filings, so you're targeting roles where the company has already demonstrated willingness to go through the full permanent residency process.
Raise Green Card sponsorship at the offer stage
Immigration counsel at Timken typically engages after an offer is extended, not during interviews. Ask directly whether the role is eligible for employer-sponsored permanent residency during compensation discussions, so you confirm the company's intent before signing and avoid starting PERM after an ambiguous verbal commitment.
Timken Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Timken sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Timken sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees, primarily in engineering, materials science, and technical manufacturing roles. Sponsorship typically follows a period of employment on a temporary work visa such as H-1B visa or TN visa. The company works with immigration counsel to manage PERM labor certification and subsequent USCIS petition filings on the employee's behalf.
Which roles at Timken are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Timken is most common in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, industrial engineering, and R&D functions tied to the company's bearings and power transmission product lines. Manufacturing process engineers and quality assurance engineers in specialty metallurgy also appear in Timken's sponsorship activity. General operations and administrative roles are sponsored less frequently.
How do I start the Green Card process at Timken?
The process typically begins after you receive a full-time offer and have been working on a temporary visa. Your Timken HR contact and the company's immigration counsel initiate PERM labor certification with DOL, which verifies no qualified U.S. worker is available for your role. After PERM approval, USCIS processes the I-140 immigrant visa petition. You can use Migrate Mate to identify which Timken roles have active sponsorship history before applying.
How long does the Green Card process take at Timken?
PERM labor certification with DOL currently takes several months, and USCIS I-140 processing adds additional time depending on whether premium processing is used. Your overall wait depends heavily on your country of birth. Applicants from high-demand countries like India or China face priority date backlogs that can extend the total timeline significantly beyond the initial filing period.
What is the difference between EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship at Timken?
EB-2 covers roles requiring an advanced degree or exceptional ability and is more common for senior engineering and R&D positions at Timken. EB-3 covers skilled workers and professionals with a bachelor's degree, which applies to a broader range of manufacturing and technical roles. Both categories require PERM labor certification unless you qualify for a National Interest Waiver, which Timken would not file on your behalf.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Timken?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
