Target clinical and research roles first
Mass General Brigham's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in clinical medicine, biomedical research, and health sciences. Physicians, scientists, and specialized allied health roles represent the strongest pathway into a sponsored position at this system.
Understand the academic medical center hiring cycle
Hiring at Mass General Brigham often aligns with academic calendars and fellowship completion timelines. Applying early in the cycle, particularly for physician and research roles, gives your H-1B petition the best chance of being filed before the annual cap deadline.
Confirm sponsorship willingness before applying
Not every open role at Mass General Brigham comes with H-1B sponsorship. Ask the recruiter directly during your first conversation whether the position supports H-1B petitions to avoid investing time in a role that won't move forward.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring roles
Mass General Brigham's job listings aren't always labeled for visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus only on roles where H-1B support is confirmed.
Prepare your credentials for U.S. equivalency review
Mass General Brigham routinely evaluates international medical and academic credentials. Have your degree equivalency documentation, medical board certifications, or professional licenses ready before the offer stage to avoid delays in initiating your H-1B petition.
Build relationships through research and fellowship programs
Many sponsored H-1B hires at Mass General Brigham come through internal pipelines, including research fellowships and residency programs. Establishing a connection inside the system significantly increases your chances of securing a sponsored full-time role.
Mass General Brigham H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Mass General Brigham sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Mass General Brigham sponsors H-1B visas. As a major academic medical system, it regularly supports international workers in clinical, research, and specialized healthcare roles. Sponsorship is handled through its legal and human resources teams in coordination with outside immigration counsel once a qualifying role and candidate are matched.
Which roles and departments at Mass General Brigham typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Mass General Brigham is most common in medicine and surgery, biomedical and clinical research, pharmacy, physical and occupational therapy, and health informatics. Roles requiring a specific advanced degree in a specialty field, such as physicians, scientists, and pharmacists, are the strongest candidates for sponsorship within the system.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Mass General Brigham?
Once you receive a job offer, Mass General Brigham's HR team works with immigration attorneys to prepare your H-1B petition, including the Labor Condition Application filed with the Department of Labor. You'll need to provide educational credentials, employment history, and passport documentation. The process is employer-driven, so your role is primarily to respond to document requests promptly.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Mass General Brigham?
Standard H-1B processing through USCIS takes roughly three to six months from petition filing to approval. If your start date is time-sensitive, Mass General Brigham may elect to use premium processing, which reduces the adjudication window to a few weeks. Factor in the April 1 filing window and October 1 start date for cap-subject cases when planning your timeline.
How do I find H-1B jobs at Mass General Brigham as an international applicant?
Start by searching Mass General Brigham's careers portal directly, filtering for clinical and research roles that match your specialty. Migrate Mate can help you identify which postings are realistically open to H-1B candidates based on verified sponsorship history. When you connect with a recruiter, confirm H-1B eligibility early so you're only pursuing roles where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Mass General Brigham?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
